Hi all,
A fascinating programme -repeat of last Tuesday's showing:
Earth: The Power of the Planet
Sun 2 Dec, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm 60mins
Atmosphere
Dr Iain Stewart investigates the Earth's atmosphere by taking a flight in a jet fighter that can go beyond the lower layer of the atmosphere into the stratosphere. He uses this flight to introduce the four key layers in the atmosphere, and the vital roles each layer plays. Some strong language
I liked the bit showing how life must have started on Earth.
Also the skydiving from 35km down.
Absolutely riveting stuff! Worth recording.
Some details here
I liked also the clip on explosive permafrost, reproduced on that webpage.
Try it!
Regards.

Fire from the lake? Pretty exciting stuff. The previous show was baout volcanoes and their affect on the CO2 in the atmosphere, stopped our poor planet from snowball status. Makes you feel small it some ways, but then again I think it also makes you think the planet probably has things under control..we are just a bit of a blip and we're all still learning. Hopefully we'll give the planet a chance to heal.
Tonight BBC2 9-10 pm.

Hi all,
That was an awesome programme, yet again.
Really thought-provoking!
Should be repeated on Sunday next, 9 December at 7 pm in BBC2.
As before. Useful second opportunity!
