A friend wrote this as a response to the tsunami. He's given me permission to share it, though it was hard to decide whether to post it here or on the poems pages.
"MANY WATERS
Cannot quench love,
Neither the floods drown it."
Floods of fear cannot drown compassion.
Noah`s dove discovered
In the vast flotsam
A branch of hope in the depths of despair.
Out of the wilderness
John saw the dove descending
And resting as the Saviour among men.
To those drowning in dread,
Christ said, "Peace, be still-
And there was a great calm."
Let that Dove still be,
And that storm be still.
