RE: WHAT TO DO ABOUT CAT THROWING UP

One of mine did this for a while, and I opted for the 'little and often' regime. He would follow me around if I was near the food source, so I would just put a 'pinch' of food down for him (gave up on tinned food - it smelt too bad when he regurgitated!). I now use the anti-furball Science diet stuff, and, thankfully, he has not thrown up in months - I still feed on demand, but only small amounts. He brings me gifts in return - my door mat is festooned with half-mice and shrews and on Thursday a rabbit! How he got it there is a mystery - itwas almost as big as he is!

Some cats are also prone to sickness at the changing of seasons. Ziggy-cat sometimes gets furball, but I can guarantee that he's a little sicker than normal around March/April and September/October. And it isn't because he's old (20 now!), it's always been the same.

My youngest cat does this.

When we took her to the vets he examined her and said it was purely down to the speed that she was eating her food, and he suggested that if it wasn't convenient to feed her 'little and often', that we get a really HUGE tray (the sort that's practically big enough to be used as a sled when it's snowing!!!) and spread the food around on that. It takes then far longer to gobble it up that way!

Ours do it whenever we give them a new brand of biscuit, we buy big bags an by the end of the bag they pick at their food a bit more cause they are bored.. less of the sickies. We have now opted for dry food and the occasional wet food treat and make sure there are always biscuits down - there are three of them and doing it the one meal a day way meant one would always miss out in the guzzling. They scavenged when we first got them - rescue cat - food had been scarce - they now regulate how much they eat and are more relaxed in their eating patterns. Does yout cat feel food is scarce or meamtimes too short?

Another thing you could try is to leave a ball full of snackswith asmall hole in(pet food shops have these) which the at has to push about to get any treats out, and this would be a good way of slowing down eating and teaching the cat less haste with a reward.. but obviously not for all meals! That also helped one of ours plus is makes eating time more fun and challenging.
