Having a rough time at the moment, I'm beginning to think I must have broken a mirror or upset someone somewhere. My elderly father has been unwell and needs a whole care package organised which is difficult and time consuming, but we're getting there.
A routine mammogram resulted in a biopsy last Friday and told yesterday I need a mastectomy - totally gobsmacked and wandering around shellshocked. Have only told my best friend and husband, not sure how to tell the rest of my family. Staying positive though, as they say I shouldn't need any follow-up and can have reconstructive surgery at same time, so I am greateful it is not at a later stage.
Then this morning got a call to say one of my son's best friends had been injured in a hill walking accident, and he died in hospital today. He was 19 last week. My son is gutted and can't understand why this should happen to such a lovely guy. To be honest, I'm struggling to understand it myself. Can't imagine what his poor aprents are goiung through right now.
Struggling to stay positive amidst so much bad news. Any kind thoughts and good vibrations would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Christine -you certainly are having a lot thrown at you just now. First of all - a great big  from me to you. I have also sent lots of love ,healing and positive energy to everyone involved.
Take care. Monica xxx
Yes, Christine, what a lot to cope with all at once - my thoughts are with you. Do take care of yourself first and foremost - you will get through this :).
prayers/advice please
Thanks for those kind words. My dad is improving and my son is beginning to cope a little better, with the support of our family and his other friends. The funeral will be next week and we need to give him plenty of support with that.
I am only now starting to give serious thought to my own operation and have read up on recovery time after reconstructive surgery, and I'm scared. I had some mad idea in my head that this was a straightforward operation and I'd be home within a couple of days and recover quickly. But now I feel sick. My youngest child is only 9 and I need to put a brave face on for her and my son. Does anyone have any experience of this surgery or advice to prepare before/after please?
Sometimes life seems to throw at us too much at the one time.
You will get through this period and past it though !
Maybe you need to take some time out for yourself and work out what you need to do next.
If you are calm and positive then you will find the way and the answers.
Lots of love and kind feelings to you !
