Hi Amanda,

I've asked for Reiki healing for you both.

It sounds positive that she's taking medication for her problem - sounds like she's taken the first step. It must have been difficult for her to talk to her doctor about it. Is there any way you could talk her into attending a support group?

She needs external help like Alcoholic Anonymous, dealing with this in the family alone is not the best way forward. I hope she has the courage to get some help.

Keeping you all in my thoughts x

Hello Amanda,

Bless you for sharing your concerns with all of us and what good replies you've had! The HP community has so many loving members who really care and you can feel all enfolded in their loving thoughts!

It would be a good idea for your Mum to go to AA if she's willing to do so - try to encourage her. It could be that what she needs is the support and friendship of the group - from people who have faced the same challenges.

But you can also help her, by separating the label of alcoholic from her. Her real, permanent and untouched spiritual identity is free of any addiction. My mum was asked to pray for the husabnd of her best friend when he was suffering from an acute asthma attack. At first she felt she couldn't as she knew him to be vulgar, abusive, violent etc, but then she realised that none of that was really part of him and she stayed up most of the night, just knowing his real identity was one with God, therefore pure, perfect and free and in the morning, not only was he completely cured of asthma (and he'd suffered from it most of his life), but alcohol and his cigar habit had left him. he kept trying to drink and smoke, but they both tasted like poison and he really was "born again" - became the gentle, inspirational, loving person he already was but which no-one (including him) had ever seen.

Here are links to two articles from www.spirituality.com, which both include permanent healings of alcoholism. In the second one, (which you can also listen to) the speaker who had been abused as a child by her alcoholic father, found herself praying for him one day, separating the evil from him. He had walked out on the family years before and had had no contact, but he tracked her down a few months later and told her that he had intended to commit suicide one day in a river, when all of a sudden he had a wonderful feeling of being loved and lifted out of the fog. He too never drank again. And he instinctively knew it involved her.

Hopt they help:
