Hi guys,

Please find it in ur hearts to send prayers and healing to me (Amanda) & my mum (Margaret). I type this my heart sinks and tears come, maybe this is not the place to put such info but I am at a loss. My mum is an alcoholic for several yrs now, she works, keeps house, pays bills, goes shopping etc etc but drinks to excess. We r at a crucial time now emotionally and physically with illness creeping in. She has been given meds called Antabuse but tonight I find her drinking admitting to me the last 2 days she took paracetomol instead! I am in a terrible moral dilemma, do I tell dad (who has been thru he'll and back with her) she says he will leave her, she has offered me to physically give and witness her takin the meds for next few days till I sadly return home to my own family. (moved away from home 8yrs ago). My head and heart r all over the place!!!

Very sad Mrsleachy :(((

Dear Mrsleachy this is JUST the place to share your worries.
It must be so hard to see your mum like this and what it is doing to your dad. Sadly mum is acting like any other person with an addiction. She is not taking responsibility for herself. This is proved by her making you responsible for not telling dad because he will leave her....is that your fault if he does or mum's for not trying to stop drinking? She's trying to make you take the responsibility of making sure she takes her meds...why is it up to you to see that she does? (and what happens when you go back to your family?) I have some insite into this as I had an alcoholic Aunt. My parents ran around going to court with her for when she was going to be evicted, getting calls from the Police when she was found slumped somewhere and I saw the toll it took on them. I must have appeared very hard hearted when I pointed out to them that she had no reason to change her behaviour while they were running around clearing up her mess. I remember my mum being terrified that my Aunt would end up in prison. I said that might be the best place for her as she would get help for her alcoholism and no access to drink. From then on my parents took a step back.
Sending you a big Reiki hug and also sending Reiki to your mum's situation for her Highest Good.

Love and light

Love, Light and Healing to you both at this difficult time.

Try and get her to take a quality multivitamin/multimineral from the healthfood shop as her body has been seriously depleted by heavy alcohol intake. She may be mistaking the craving for nutrients as a need for alcohol. It needs to have at least 100mg of each of the B vitamins (mcg of B12).

Can't add more practical advice to the above, just wanted to send a big hug.

Mrs Leachy my heart goes out to you. My father was an alcoholic and I know how terrible it can be. You are not responsible for your mums behaviour or your parents relationship. Your father will notice himself if she is drinking and not taking her meds. sending healing, love and light to the situation.
Take care
Linda
