[sm=hug.gif]Well done it sounds so easily to do, but I know it is not that easy. I am myself trying to break free, from someone who emotionally countrolling. I am half way there - I no longer live with him but he still pulls the strings, the thing is he does not know why I feel the way I do and does not realize what he does, as far as he knows he has do nothing wrong. That is enought of me. Thank you for your healing thoughts and I will send out positive energyinyour direction. Congrats on getting strength to break free, bet you feel great and that there has been a weight lifted from your shoulders.[sm=hug.gif]

RE: I Am Free!
Namaste Vegan Heart,
well done you for breaking free from a mind of attachment to someone that has been negative for you! :)It takes a strong mind to be able to realise, emotionally as well as intellectually, thatthe situation that you can find yourself in is negative, and then being able to action change foryour ownwellbeing.
I have every empathy and compassion for you Vegan Heart. I have experienced something similar... at least according to my counsellor, who says, objectively, that I have been both emotionally and financially abused by an ex-partner... the realisation of whichI am having difficulty dealing with as I had always been led to believe by my ex-partner that I was at fault for all the problems inthat relationship. I have been suffering from nightmares since the end of my relationship where my partner has appeared to me as a bully. Perhaps my counsellor is right. There are always two sides/perspectives toany story, I guess. No wonder my self-esteem has been so low!
Being Buddhist, I practice meditation, read/practice Dharma and recite mantras daily, which, for me, certainly helps me to be able to deal with the fall-out of such a relationship. I'm not sure how much you may or may not know about Buddhism, but there is a meditation technique called Tonglen... [link= http://www.shambhala.org/teachers/pema/tonglen1.php ]http://www.shambhala.org/teachers/pema/tonglen1.php[/link] and... [link= http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonglen ]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonglen[/link]...that I have been practising recently which focusses on taking on others suffering and sending out love and compassion to those who are suffering. I have been meditating on the negative fall-out from the relationship and I have been practising loving compassion and empathy for my ex-partner and what they have been/are going through themselves. I do still love them.Rather than finding fault in what they may or may not have done, I have been focussing on my own faults (I raise my hand... the only healthy thing to do if I wish to move forwards!), a lot of which caused problems in therelationship. By focussing on my own faults, learning Buddhist lessons from themandpractising loving compassion/empathy for my ex-partner, I havestarted tofind my Self again, and I will be able to live an emotionallyhealthier life.
I hope that you find your Self now that you are free from this person, and that you can find freedom from suffering, happiness and peace in all that you do! 🙂
Buddhas Blessings fellow vegan!
