Sad news
Unfortunately, Salem took a bad turn for the worse yesterday, this time it was neurological/a possible stroke. We started with new drugs yesterday but they would only drag out the inevitable for longer and he wasn't responding well enough to them to have a decent quality of life.
He was no longer the happy dog that he has always been and was unable to get up without assistance so, today we took the painful and difficult decision and had him put to sleep. He was pushing 16 years old which is a really good age for a big dog but it doesn't make it any easier. The house seems really empty without him, luckily we're due to travel down to Cornwall tomorrow afternoon where we'll be working until early next week, the distraction will be welcome.
Thank you all again for the healing sent last February/March, it is much appreciated.
