Oh Celia, what a difficult situation. Seems like your sister has planted herself in martyr mode and is going to defend her right to stay there. Thus nothing anyone else does will resolve the situation for her. At the same time if she is your mother's carer, albeit not full time, then of course she's going to be resenting your physical distance from the situation. May I ask which of you two sisters is the elder? It's just that it seems likely that this present situation may be the culmination of long held - and possibly unacknowledged - resentments. I expect I'm way off the mark, and forgive me for sticking my oar in, but it feels as though there's a lot going on under the surface here.
Having got that off my chest, I send peace and clarity to all of you.
