A week ago tomorrow a lovely boy from our village headed out with his friends and was involved in a serious car accident,he was the driver and went headbang into a stone wall, was immediately rushed to Cork University hospital, rumour went out that he was dead and his parents were quite angry. There was a little ray of hope yesterday as they took him of the ventilator to see if he could breathe on his own, unfortunately he got a stroke and sadly passed away this morning. He was only 18.
My husband was speaking to his dad a few weeks ago and he said all he wanted was for his son to study hard for his exams in June.go to college and get a good job, which alot of parents wish for,but isnt it strange how we never look at the bigger picture, this lad did not want to go to school or study and headed off out and drank, perhaps escapism from the pressures, though I dont condone drinking and driving in any way.Perhaps we should listen to our kids more, but alas for this lad it is too late R I P.
I would love some healing prayers for his family 🙁

Very sad indeed. You are right star, we need to understand our children as unique people and allow them to find their own niche in life rather than to force them to fit into the niche we create for them.
After reading about this sad end to a life, I am even more peaceful in my recent decision to home educate my two sons.
Khalil Gibran's
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

It need wisdom and love and a good dose of courage to let children be themselves. The easy route is to dominate, frighten and pressurise to conform.

But all said and done, this how it was meant to play out. The parents did what they believd was best for their son's own good. May the bereaved find strength to cope with this loss.
Blessings
