Each person contributes two sentences to the story, with a suggested maximum of 50 words in the two sentences - but it can be anything up to that maximum. Its hard to keep to 50 words or less (mine below is 49) but lets see just where peoples imaginations can take the story!
(Fleur's comment on the Halloween thread about making up a story gave me this idea - not related to Halloween but...just a story with its twists and turns and maybe this general one will inspire a Halloween story!)
Let me start us off ....
Sunlight shone through the tree leaves lighting the secret areas of the forest. Birds sang from the branches, squirrels foraged in the undergrowth and a deer peacefully grazed until a sudden noise made him lift his head to listen and sniff the air, preparing to flee from any danger.
The lovers ambled along the winding path oblivious to anything other than the colour of each others eyes, arms in an embrace around each other, hearts beating the same rhythm. Until, to their right, a creature darted off into the forest.

It was a smell that they vaguely recognised, not unpleasant but somehow evocative and musky, and if it had been a colour would have been a rich royal purple. The couple edged closer to where they felt the source would be; their eyes began to feel a burning sensation.
