For todays point to ponder , I am going to take you through a series of emotions. As you move from emotion to emotion, notice how you are feeling in your body.

Close your eyes and take several deep breaths

Know that each emotion that you feel is completely made up - there is nothing attached to it and the feelings that it evokes will disapper as soon as you switch your attention.

When you are ready, begin to imagine the feelings of complete powerlessness, of complete helplessness.

When in your life have you felt this?

Imagine a situation in your life that has caused you to feel this way.

What do you feel in your body?

Now let go of helplessness and imagine the feelings that come along with anger.

Allow all of your senses to be active and feeling anger.

Now imagine feeling worry

Now imagine feeling frustration

Now contentment

Now optimism

Now joy

Now just allow yourself to let go of all the emotions and come back into your mind.

What was your experience like? Could you feel the releasing of a little bit more resistance each time you moved into a different emotion?

As you think back to the emotions, would it have been possible to jump directly from feeling helplessness directly into joy?

That would have been difficult, wouldn't it?

But, it wasn't so hard to get from helplessness into a feeling of anger, was it?

This is whatis meant by shooting for neutral.

To be in a situation where you feel hopeless and to see the only success is by attaining great joy you are letting the best be the enemy of the good.

You are asking yourself to do an impossible task - and you create a lot of resistance.

By allowing yourself to reach for the next logical emotion and CELEBRATING it, you are allowing yourself to move in the direction you want.

This moves us up the emotional scale
