I'm reading The Second Coming of Christ by Paramahansa Yogananda, who described Jesus as he appeared before him: He looks very much like the painting Christ at 33 by Heinrich Hoffman, except he has olive skin and black hair, sparse beard and mustache, slightly flattened nose tip. I always wondered about those blonde, blue-eyed portraits. After all, Jesus was a Jew from the Middle East.
So now we know!
RE: What did Jesus look like?
I saw a lovely DVD in March, called 'Judas' I think.
The actor who portrayed Him had light brown, almost blonde in places, long hair, brown eyes, fair skinned - quite different from the usual portrayals.
I was entranced as he laughed a great deal, had a playfight or two with Judas the the other disciples, had a comfortable and easy going relationship with women, complained his feet hurt when he walked a long way, was sacred witless at what was going to happen to him, but the all abiding memory is of His walking with Judas in the evening in a garden. Here He was represented as totally human, ungodlike, making jokes, serious one moment laughing hugely the next.
THAT's my Jesus, I thought. Just like the rest of us.
It was a simple, not well known film, which put Christ into marvellous perspective for me. When I imagine Him now, it is as the actor portrayed him in 'Judas'

RE: What did Jesus look like?
Yeah all these images of him being portrayed as a westerner don't cut it with me. He must have looked middle-eastern if you ask me.

RE: What did Jesus look like?
I appreciate what you are saying Dr. Mambo, but isn't it up to us as individuals to decide what image of Christ suits us best?

RE: What did Jesus look like?
Not if you are talking about the human body Jesus inhabited. As for Jesus being "like the rest of us," if he were, we'd never have heard of him. He wouldn't be The Christ. That's what made him different and why his influence has stood the test of time. A Self-realized master wouldn't be complaining how his feet hurt! It WAS a movie, after all.
