Hi all
I am a great believer in the universal energies and believe we are all part of the same great energy, which was one of the reasons why i became vegetarian. This weekend someone asked me
"if you believe in the universal theory, how come animals don't subscribe to the same ethos?" if they are part of that same energy.
Can anyone help me, i have been thinking about it and not sure what the answer is?

How do they know animals don't? 😉 Have they asked them?
I'm presuming here that the debate was why animals eat each other instead of honouring life by not eating it, like vegetarians? (Forgive me if I'm wrong here)
My answer would be that animals - like rocks, plants, people - animals have their function and balance within the overall energy. Why should they subscribe to the same ethos as some humans?

if we are part of the same energy, then why shouldn't they?
and yep you are on the right track:)

Hmmm - interesting one this.
If the concept of universal energy is followed logically, this means that everything on earth (and in the universe) has consciousness, including not only humans and animals, but plants and minerals. I think the ethos you are talking about might be to honour the other parts of the univeral "consciousness." Does this necessarily mean you shouldn't eat them (in fact you are just converting them into a different type of energy aren't you?) as long as you do it mindfully and with honour, rather than just because it is convenient.

RE: Universal
Yes i agree, I think showing repect and giving thanks to what it is we are about to consume keeps the balance. After all everything was created to consume things in order to sustain itself (at this time in our journey anyway)
I don't eat a great deal of meat anyway, but I usually always give the animal i am about to eat respect and thanks.
You could look at it this way too. Everything is all the same energy but this energy also resonates at differant frequencies which in turn has different effects on our behaviour and the way we interact with the world around us, wether we be man, plant animal or mineral. Hehe i hope you get what im trying to say, i never was very good at explaining my thoughts on things 😀
