lol, sorry Laura! I think the man knew who I was because the energy had 'told' him. Without wanting to sound too dramatic it felt as if this energy had found me and had instructed the owner to contact me?.
This energy was definitley female and very powerful. The owner said that he couldn't live in the centre, he stayed in a basic teepee-type log cabin in the grounds. He said that the centre had broken up his marriage because it demanded all his time and attention. He also admitted that his girlfriend refused to come anywhere near the place so that was why he was selling but that it would be a terrible wrench and why he would only sell it to the 'right' person.

No, I don't think "too dramatic" at all, it seems quite feasible. Do you think all of this was a "test" for you, too?

Most definitley! A part of the story that I missed out will prove this. After the medium had told me about this energy she then told me that it would be visiting me during the night for my answer. I was to protect myself with everything I could,ie angels, Reiki, prayer. I was to be absolutely firm with my conditions for taking on the centre because my family could be at serious risk.
I went up to bed first (only the medium and myself had this conversation, the others were playing pool and drinking). I was so scared of going into a dark empty room but I did it. I also felt I had to prepare and instead of having a quick shower I had an almost ritualistic wash down from head to feet. I then changed into my pj's and prepared the room. Luckily ( or was it luck?) I had taken my Angel Oracle cards with me on this trip because a few members had asked if I would give them a reading. I spread out the ones I felt most powerfully drawn too, including Archangel Michael. I then Reiki'd the room and called in all my guides and angels to protect me. I then turned off the light s and lay on the bed and waited for 'them' to come. I was absolutely terrified and couldn't believe I was doing this. Eventually I started to go off to sleep which is when the legs started to appear!
I slept right through to the morning and nothing happened but I was amazed at the courage and strength I had found to go through evening, courage and strength I did not realize I had.
When talking to the medium the next day she said because I had done this it had shown the energy that I was an energy not to be messed with and it had backed off, I wasn't so easy to frighten!!
So yes, I was tested and I think I came through ok!

Worth a look - but bear in mind it is really for the archeologically minded and less favourable to the 'open minded' LOL!
