RE: Not so brave....

I can see why it looks like I have contradicted myself - but I never said, by any means that it is *wrong* to feel self important.... also, there is great deal of difference between self worth and self importance. Self importance is something to be seen, if one wants to search in to what it means to be human, that is all....

As for love - that is what I am saying - what do we really mean by it. That is the point I am making - where is the love that is not selfish... THE MOST selfish reason is the one that the love and light gurus speak of all of the time, the one that they totally over look - that it makes YOU feel good.... what could be more selfish than that? Heh...

Self-ish
About the self
That’s the only way we know of anything, be it love or hate or bread pudding. How does it relate to the self?

Your point is well understood. We have long quarreled with those who look after the poor at Christmas-time because they think they “should” and they can glory in how good and wonderful and saintly they are for having done so.

But self-ish is the biggest part of the human condition. It truly is ALL we know. How the self fits into the universe, how we feel about it, how we respond in thought and deed, and what is the result? Everything is about the self and those who are strong enough to acknowledge it can then move forward and develop the self. Those who want everyone else to ignore their own “self” in order to pay attention “my self” are the ones who see distortionately.

Then, if self is all we know, and this colours all our perspecitves, in your view is love also in that category?

By definition, yes!

If you have been hurt and it has been called love, you aren’t going to have a good feeling about it.

If you have discovered the ultimate delight and know it by the term love, then when you speak of it you will wax eloquent.

But flowery terms to someone who has never felt that feeling in regard to love will seem sappy-pappy. And mush used to describe anything is still mush. It must be practical and applicable to the situation.

Well, that's cool.. was just looking at your site, and I think we diverge in many ways - which is cool..... for me, I am not so interested on making my experience on earth as happy as possible - somehow that is not for me.... for me, slavery to love would still be slavery, and I would still be bored.... I also think it is possible to surround ourselves in an illusion of love, simply by over-inflating, over emphasising that one single aspect of our being..... for me, what gives me *satisfaction* is my sense of balance.

For me, I would rather delve in to the nature of existence, if possible - and so far, I have found that love is not something we evolve in to, but something that we need to see beyond...... Have you considered that love IS a judgement????
