RE: Not so brave....

Perhaps we each carry the resources, knowledge, etc., within ourselves.

I believe so...I avoid reading books to learn from & try & learn through myself & my expereince....sometimes suddenly everything can all make sense, people I meet sometimes I learn a great deal from...not by them teaching....hhhuuummm I'm trieing to find the words to explain what I mean but I'm finding it hard at the moment:eek:....sometimes I feel that some people take words from others & change them to make them their own without truely understanding what they are preaching which at times worries me as others then hold an image of this person being knowledgeable & will seek advice from them & ignoring there own inner voice as they hold complete trust in the person churning the knowledge that they do not own through their experience...........eeekkkk....that is a ramble...I hope it's understood[:o]

Myself...I am not set in stone..I am not stuck with my opinions & believes, they grow & develope all the time, like a seedling...I don't mind not being agreed with, I'm happy to have an oposit opinion being offered to me & in honesty I appricate it & from that I am learning more, it doesn't mean my mind will be changed though..it depends on the subject & the strength of my feeling/belief...so long as it's not forced on me by someone who looks to belittle me by claiming to be more learned, edjucated or wiser then me

Love
Amy

Hi
In my very humble opinion a good teacher is someone who encorouges others to look within themselves for their knowledge & show them that they can guide themselves or learn from theirselves, somone who'd encorouge others to use disernment when it comes to taking on thoughts from others believes...to only take the knowledge that 'hits a cord' with them & not to take all that is told as truth & feel intimiated to say "No, sorry that doesn't sound right to me"

Yes, that is very wise. Insights should ring true straight away, strike a chord... in fact, all of the wisest things I ever heard left me with a feeling of *well duh! How obvious! I knew that already!* Heh...
Taking the word insight - IN-sight, as in, *look within*.... or even intuition - IN-tuition - teach thyself....

I sometimes wonder if theres people who put themselves in the postion of "Spiritual Teacher" for the glory...smug feeling that they are more enlightend or more special then others...& likewise I wonder if some people need someone to look up to...does it give them a safe feeling???

Totally spot on! My! Are YOU a guru??? Yes, you are totally correct in my view - gurus who need to fill some lack within themselves, gathering followers in order to try and assuage those feelings... meanwhile, sheep, desperate to feel like they belong somewhere, or that they can find some certain sense of worth through *becoming* a shaman, or whatever, are happy to worship.......

Having never met either teacher or student face 2 face in my life I'm not makeing a statment here...just thinking out loud....& also...the idea of living in a universe of love & equalitity....I'm sorry but I don't see that happening either..not with the human race...someone will always assume the postion of top dog...& some people always feel they need to be lead

Don't stop thinking out loud Amy!

Hello Xia,

How wise, your words. If we were only to know Love, we would not need to be embodied for that is the condition of Spirit. It is through becoming human that we are able to experience all that is not Love and those experiences increase our wisdom.

We are truly all we need to be, for BEing is the assignment. Healing (or perhaps better stated, BEing with Spirit) can help us move through this life more easily. We do not think of 'healing' as fixing something that is wrong, but rather experiencing oneness. It becomes a growth process as we increase our understanding and expand our experiences.

As we teach discernment the individual learns to choose how to respond to the situations that arise in his/her life. We all can make things easier on ourselves if we internalise only those things that affirm our sense of being fine the way we are.

It could be that *love* is not actually the state of spirit though? I mean, it COULD be that we were experiencing that and got bored and came here..... but maybe that is not so......it could be that even *love* is only a facet of human incarnation, nothing to do with anything *spiritual*..... maybe quite the opposite - maybe love is just a manifestation of self importance????????????? Wow - is that scary? I like it! Heh.... I'm not buying that *love* is so important - I think *love* can be examined more deeply..... maybe *love* is just a way of explaining something else?

FOr me, I think it is a mistake to over-stress the importance of love.... maybe that is just some left over idea from Christianity??? See,it is my belief that humans worship themselves utterly, and so *love* takes on enormous importance to us because it is how we express our self-importance. Wow - is that a scary idea???? .......

I say, keep options open...... I don't buy that love is more important than any other aspect of human - and I don't buy that *after* human, it suddenly becomes *all*...... It just - it just doesn't ring true..... it is only human judgement that makes love seem so important.... after all, love is a hugely selfish thing.... for me, it is clearly connected to self importance.

Dear Xia

I have been following this thread with interest.

You said:

And I really have to say that when you talk about love in this way, then I don't believe that you can be thinking of the same thing as I do when I consider the word 'love'.

Of course, I respect your right to your own belief, but I am sorry that you see love as a hugely selfish thing. I consider it to be absolutely the opposite.

Love and light (and all that dogma!):D

Hi Xia

Take that ‘love’ word and call it life or mud or celebration. It makes no difference what you call it.

The word love has so many meanings, so many connotations, that it essentially becomes worthless unless we can agree on a meaning in each instance. Rather like trying to get your message across by using a “foreign” language. Unless we can think in the same terms, we have no true communication.

Agreed that when the word, as it is frequently used, is smeared all over the occurrences of the day it feels smarmy. It appears to be a costume that you can don when things get too personal or when you don’t want anyone to know who you really are. It also is frequently used as a weapon against those who do not have the same expectations and smugly applied, as Amy suggests. (The “I am wonderful and if you ever get to my level you will recognise it” cult.)

And there are aspects of every religion that use the “hook” of love to capture, then turn around and tell you how you need the organisation to be able to justify your own meager, inferior existence.

Not at all a scary idea. It feels right, not only that it does happen, but that it should happen. Why not believe in your own importance? In fact, nothing is more important to your being than your self. Don’t contradict yourself by saying that we are all right as we are and then imply that it is “wrong” to feel self-importance.

And human judgment is all that we have to guide us in the right direction. Judge, evaluate, weigh choices, decide, abandon conscious decision. It’s the way we proceed through each day. The important part is what we use as our measuring device—the bit that we use as our gold standard. Do you make those choices based on what will hurt someone else, what will make you feel good inside, what the church tells you is “right,” or use one ideal one day and another the next day?

How you move through your life illustrates how you make those decisions. Then the behaviour of others bears some reflection of your own, good, bad or indifferent.
