Thanks, Laura. Mine had been an educated (?) guess. 'Common era? That's even worse! Back to BC / AD for me.

Roger, I intuitively feel that Ikhanaton used the sun, or perceived it, as simply an outward symbol or expression of the one God - Brahma, Divinity, God, whatever.

Well, I could never remember what BCE stood for, so looked it up for the purpose of this thread ... now I'm sure I shall remember!

My understanding, though, was always that the words "common era" were substituted for "Christ" in an effort to refer to the date and period concerned in a way which did not focus on any one religion. I'm certainly no academic, and probably saw BCE used most commonly in Pagan reading matter which, of course, refers to the Gods and Goddesses. Plural 🙂
