RE: Rune Stones

Hi,

Basically Runes can be thought of as similar to Tarot cards.... they tell the "caster" what the need to know about a specific topic.

They're very old (Vikings used them in their daily life) and each has a specific meaning... because they're so old there has been some deriviations, but the most common set (Elder Futhark) has 24 "real" Runes.

There's sometimes a 25th "Blank" Rune which seems to have been invented by a person called Ralph Blum.

Ralph wrote a book on Runes after finding some in an antique shop... however the set he had had a blank Rune (which other Rune casters believe is a spare - like Scrabble:D) and it's use has got muddled up with the other Runes as a "unknown" / "chaos" Rune...

However as Runes were originally used for writing, there doesn't seem to be much point in trying to write a blank letter! (And no, I don't mean spaces!!)

The Runes are an excellent tool as they don't have any right or wrong way of using them: want to know a quick Yes/No answer? Pull out a Rune (after feeling if it's the "right" one) and if it's the right way up the answer is yes, otherwise the answer is no...

Want to know something more indepth? Pull 3 Runes: 1st=past, 2nd=Present, 3rd=Future....

Obviously you'll need to look up their meanings! 😉
