[sm=wave.gif] Hi to everyone, wonder if anyone reads playing cards and is able to give me any information on learning. I know there are many sites out there to consult........but just so many different ones with different ideas, and I would really appreciate if anyone has had any experience with any in particular that you could let me know about.
Thanks

Hi, Although I am an old duffer now, I was born on a gypsy site and my Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother all earned their daily bread from fortune telling with the 52 card pack. I myself learned this as a boy, but have never used it although I have kept the knowledge alive. I have seen many sites on the web dealing with the "English method", most are rubbish.
When you need to earn your living from fortune telling you need speed and precision. The "English method" requires no "mystic ability", it is almost a mathematical art where each card (and about 40 combinations of cards) each have their own precise meaning.
The art has three keys, firstly the layout, which is almost always a modified version of the square of sevens. Secondly, the sacrifice, meaning those cards discarded from the square, and lastly the knowledge of the cards.
What I will say to you is that should you master the art through diligence, that you will be able to match yourself against any or all "tarot" or "angel card" readers.
Lastly, I might say that I myself have never had any time at all for Tarot in any guise. I consider it an inferior system, relying on the interpreter rather than the true knowledge.
Persist in your quest, I'm sure you will prevail.
Regards
My late husband was from Romany descent as well. He wouldn't have anything to do with tarot cards either, wouldn't have a pack in the house.
He used ordinary playing cards and a lot of pyschic feelings together.
But got to admit,I have had some excellent readngs from tarot cards so reserve my own judgement.

Hi, I myself am not Rom, I am Sinti, I can however, rokker in rommanis jib. I read with great amusement some of the tarot related posts in this forum, since my point is that if you go to Halfords and buy a set of spanners, this does not make you a mechanic, simply someone with a set of spanners.
In the same manner, if you buy a tarot pack and a book, this does not make you a fortune teller, just someone with a pack of cards and a book.
The true art cannot be plucked from a tree like an apple, it is a long hard road, I learned at the end of a stick. If your Husband was Rom, you will know that not everyone can be taught and some are refused tuition.
Over the years I have met many who have assured me, with great sincerity that "they can read the cards" only to fall at the first part of even the layout. Lastly, it is undeniable that a tarot reading will always give a "softer" reading, since many of the 52 card pack forecasts are harsh and unforgiving.
This is the reason I myself have never read for anyone, nor will do.
I leave you with a question which exemplifies this point. A sequence of say three sevens in a reading from a 52 card pack. This signifies "premature old age and sickness" in the enquirer such as Parkinsons, dementia etc, this run of three sevens followed by the 2 of spades, signifying "seperation from friends, money and home". (probably an end in Hospital or a Nursing home)
What do you tell the enquirer?
Sarishan!
