hello and thanks for taking time to read this.
i have had this dream since i was around 10 years old. it comes and goes and sometimes i wont have it for 6-8 months then have it twice in a week.
basically its a 2d dream where i am looking at the horizontal plane (looking through some one elses eyes), there is a figure running accross from left to right. as the figure is running the person whom i am viewing this from gets very distressed and angered.
from this the view then changes to the figure running, again which is 2d and i am veiwing through eyes. in my dream this seems to be me as i am always called by my full name (which i never use) and only close people know of it.
as i am running i get a sence of excitment and adrenalin, i run faster and faster. around this time when im really sprinting, boulders of rock come rolling past me and i am having to dodge and move out the way of them. still in the view of me running along, i suddenly get a sence of real dispare. its weird like my soul has been taken from me and i am left compleatly removed of all life.
at this stage the i return to the first view and by this time they have approached the person who i think is me, i can feel the anger of them towards me as they start shouting at telling the 2nd character off.
(this feels like i am a little child that is being told off for having simple fun, maybe in complete ignorance of the dangers around it)
the dream continues with my running again and then being told off again.
the dream normally happens in the mornings as i have been known to shout and make a generall mess of things in my room (sleep walking).
this has come up recently again with my fiance a little worried about some of the things i have been saying in my sleep in regards to this dream.
apparently i have been swearing against my parents and speaking threats of hurting others, which is very unlike me.
so can anyone shed any light on this ? i think i may book some counseling as some of my dreams seem a little too vivvid.
Hi Adam,
The most important part of this dream is how you feel/felt.
Recurring dreams are a way of re-presenting to you something that needs dealing with that is continually being suppressed in "normal" everyday life.
Some of the significant phrases you used will give you access to what you need to know.. for instance:
"The person whom I am viewing this from gets very distressed and angered. "
"I suddenly get a sense of real despair. its weird like my soul has been taken from me and I am left completely removed of all life."
"I can feel the anger of them towards me as they start shouting at telling the 2nd character off. (this feels like I am a little child that is being told off for having simple fun,.."
"The dream continues with my running again and then being told off again."
"Apparently I have been swearing against my parents and speaking threats of hurting others, which is very unlike me."
"I have had this dream since I was around 10 years old."
It's all there in black and white (ok, in red!) Your dreams are not just talking to you, they are shouting at you repeatedly and it's time you listened. No wonder they are so vivid!
The specific issue is the time before you were ten years old, and the question is "What happened? This needn't be a singular event. It could be a continual way of life... but it lead to the decision that it was unsafe or not OK to be you. (The break in belonging)
The more general (and more important) issue is that you've suppressed your frustration and anger to a very large degree.
Suppression/control/polite/nice/do and say the right thing/ approval/likeable/jovial/pleasant/jokey/win the accolades... does any of this sound familiar?
So, the next step... The process of "re-connecting". I'd recommend a book called "Why Good People Do Bad Things" by Debbie Ford (just out in UK). This will give you a clearer understanding of the process at hand and thus a clearer understanding of what's required to bring about a resolution.
