Hi, not sure where to post this so please move if need be.
Mum was told today she has sciacta (sp). she has been prescribed temgesic drug, has anyone else taken this and did you have any side effects. She is diabetic.
Thanks
My father took this for trigeminal neuralgia. It did help. He found that he could not take it first thing in the morning, but could once he had eaten some breakfast - food appeared to stop any queasiness. Seemed to work within half an hour of ingestion. He only took it for a couple of weeks, then had an enforced break, to save withdrawal.
I don't think your Mum would have been prescribed it if it were counteracted by diabetes.

Hi Jabba
Thanks for the info. The side effects mum is having seems to be like pins/needles/tingling (that was yesterday, today she doesn't have that), but they keep knocking her out (she is sleeping a lot...i guess when you are asleep you don't feel the pain!). She also said the tablets make her feel muzzy. Perhaps if these feelings continue she should consult the dr.
I am away at the moment but will do some Reiki when back on Monday and hopefully that will ease the pain a bit.
Thanks again
AP/Jane
I took temgesic for kidney stone pain. Hated it. Spent most of the night circling the light bulb! Only took it once.
What I found worked best for the recent dose of sciatica I've had was Solpadol - it's co-codamol with a much increased codeine component. She might like to ask her doc to prescribe that and see how she takes to it.
