Hi All
Brief history, Im 37, 3 children, ALWAYS had reg cycle, 28 days to the clock this last 6-12mths starting to shift, 25 days-32 days not major but unpredictable non the less. Occassional hot flush type moments but not too many. Ive always had pmt symptoms (since teens) with me its horrendous mood swings, to the point Ive ended relationships in the past (happily married for 7yrs now, he suffers with me bles him). Since having my final child 4yrs ago my period pains are now becoming unbearable 🙁 for me its the 1st 24-36 hrs and its getting to the point Im grabbing onto things to get through the pain, almost like contractions sometimes. Im now experiencing shooting pains up through my rectum and that just takes my breath away. Finally saw my gp 2 mths ago, she gave me tranexamic acid and Ive already got co-codomol 30/500 and 400mg brufen, she wants me to go back in when Im off cycle for an internal exam ?? fibroids.
Oh Its makin me miserable, and Im at the point Im praying Im on a day off when it comes because it makes me so ill and I wont take my quota of meds because I drive at work. Any such similar forum buddies with any advice, much appreciated,
thanks Amanda
Supplementing with magnesium will help since its calcium that causes these pains.
Magnesium malate, citrate or if you can afford magnesium oil are the best types, dont go with oxide/hydroxide poorly absorbed and caustic to the intestines.
Nettle leaf powder will also help as a prostaglandin inhibitor.
Pulsing sessions are fantastic for this kind of thing, as Pulsing harmonises all the body systems, especially the fluid ones. Many of my female clients have reported lighter, more regular and less painful periods as a result of regualr sessions.
Wow Amanda, I am exactly the same as you, every pain you describe I have.
I went to the Doctors a year ago about mine after suffering for so long. The Doc referred me for scans which showed I had Endometriosis and a small Ovarian cyst. He put me on monthly Zoldex injections which completely stopped the periods and pain, but it puts you into an early menopause, so I had to take HRT. I had 6 months of heaven. But after 6 months I had to come off the injections as there is a risk to Brittle bones etc. My periods returned and after a couple of months the pain did as well. It was so bad last month that my hubby phoned the paramedics during the night as it was excrutiating.
So now I am waiting to start the Zolodex injections again, I am allowed to have another 6 months but after that I will have to have a Hysterectomy. The consultant wants me to have one now, but Im only 38 and I feel way to young for that to happen, plus I am in the middle of my teacher training so I can't afford to take time off.
I must admit, the Zoldex injections are a little on the painful side.....it's more of an implant than injection, but the pain lasts seconds and it's worth it so not to have those dreadful peroids.

Thanks Angel

Ive had the same thing for years- I have PCOS
Over the years I have used:
Agnus Castus to regulate my periods
Magnesium and Starflower Oil Supplements for my hormones
Magensium Phosphate tissue salts for the pain
Magnets for the pain- I think they are called LadyCare magnets- google them
Acupuncture and Reiki have all helped- though nothing has solved the issue which for me is the PCOS
It also really helped me to cut out refined sugar, wheat, dairy from my diet and maintain my blood sugar levels
If you can try alternative remedies like acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy and energy healing/reiki it may well yield something. With supplements like Agnus Castus its best to visit a herbalist or naturopath first so they can actually take your history and prescribe than self medicating which can have serious contra-indications
Hope that helps and good luck!
Many things could be causing this, it's quite wrong to be suggesting any treatments on the basis of symptoms alone. In other words, only following a proper consultation would it be wise to try to treat the underlying causes.
It would be likely also that investigations are required. Ask for a pelvic ultrasound; they may provide external or internal versions, but this can check for ovarian cysts among other things. Endometriosis might require a laproscopy (which is via an incision) to confirm). The result is only the start of the inquiry from an alternative perspective, but it's important to know what we're dealing with.
Having said many of the things that cause pelvic pain can result from diet and nutritional issues. Also from digestive disturbance, so making sure the digestion is working properly is hugely important, this in turn can involve processes quite remote from the site of the symptom.
Following childbirth, it is also possible to have disruption to the alignment of the pelvis and lower spine, which can affect the way fluid flows to and from various organs. And stress or disturbance of regulation through other factors can affect the health of organs as well.
So those are some of the considerations. The problem hasn't always been there, so unless something has changed permanently, it is possible that it doesn't always need to be there from now on either.
So getting to the heart of the matter isn't something really that can be done by internet, but there are many resources for that sort of thing that don't necessarily require drugs or surgery, good luck!
Yes I totally agree- please see a doctor first and get the tests done to find out what it actually is- then Im sure you can search around for conventional and alternative remedies.
Hope it gets better soon for you
Thanks guys, lots to think about! As it goes I've seen my gp again yest and she has filled out the referall for me to have an ultra sound scan, I've been suffering right illiac fossa pain for some yrs now on and off, I've been told twice it's ovarian cysts and the pain is when they pop, I've Been ad
Admitted to hosp with ?? Appendix but discharged 2 days later with appendix intact!! I never thought it was appendix anyway. This mth cycle has had the right sided pain a fair bit, gp gonna get it scanned too. I'm really hoping the scan shows something at least that will give an answer!
