Hello, I was hoping I could get some help. I was on the Depo shot (birth control) for about maybe a year to a year and a half. I got off of it because I gained a lot of weight 🙁
I have been off the shot and have not tried any other method of birth control. It will be a year next month in October since I last took the shot. I have not had a period at all (maybe at the very beginning when I stopped taking Depo I got a little spotting but nothing else)
Is it possible for me to get pregnant even though I have not had my periods?
I can only tell you what I know, i.e. that a woman can conceive whether she is currently having periods or not - they might have been about to start and you would have ovulated, so a pregnancy could occur. Don't take chances, unless of course you want to have a child.
Hi there Vivianna - Welcome to healthypages
You may find it helpful to talk to someone who specialises in womens issues like Marilyn Glenville. They have the experience and answers to problems like yours.
Your GP will probably say it takes time for the body to readjust itself after having artificial hormones - and i would agree, but it should be readjusted by now. Are there emotional issues that need resolving? What sort of foods are you eating? These can both have a considerable impact on how your body rebalances itself - or not - as the case may be.
Hope you get sorted soon.
