Hi everyone,
Just come across this site in an attempt to find info out, I will explain my problems and anyone who can offer me help, jump in anytime. I am sure other girls go through this at some points I can't be the only one!
I had a copper coil fitted 8 years back due to spotting, for the first year I suffered panics, and really heavy periods, towards the end of having this in I had 3 periods a month. so on the 5 year removal doc fitted a merina coil. He said it would mend all the problems.
That was fine for another six months, felt fantastic, then periods went. I was left having a spotting period once a month! great you may think but a whole load of other problems came with it.
Panics, tired, not intrested in anything, including sex, skin horrid, weight gain (4 dress sizes) pains in legs, hair loss, shaking, fuzzy head all the time. loads more but to cut it short, I became a total mess.
After the doc telling me this was not due to the coil I decided to get it out, after 2 years trying to "let it settle" as doc kept saying.
After another six months, I was so much better in myself; starting losing weight without trying, hair loss stopped, other problems improved. my periods are spot on 3 days every 26 days, normal flow. Then 9 months back all the improvement stopped I started getting a swollen throat at the front, it would swell and feel slightly sore for 2 days at most then go. I noticed this would happen every month so I went to doc who sent me for tyriod tests which came back clear, he then sent me to hoss for the cam down my throat which also was clear, that doc said it was down to hormones.
My doc has said there is nothing I can do for it just suffer like everyother female does! after another six months, the swelling stopped and I wasn't worried, I thought whatever it was had settled.
The last 3 months, 3 days before a period I feel uneasy, nervey and fuzzy headed. little bouts of panic come and go, and the day before bleeding I have trouble catching my breath, which is coming and going through the day and once or twice I feel I am going to pass out. I can tell when I am going to come on by it, without knowing when I am due. each month it seems to be more than the last building up on me, this month I have aslo got tension in my face and back. anyone who has this, knows this is a awful thing to go through.
my doctor doesn't seem intrested in helping he has said he can give me happy pills to take everyday, to level me out as I am dipping when due on/off. I can only take these for six months or so at a time, in six months I come off them and it will build up again and I go back on them! and then carry on doing it for maybe years.
I am fine the rest of the month I take a couple of days to get over the panic thing but then I can go out and do everything normally.
can anyone help me find out if there is anything else I can do to help with the week I am due on/off without going on these pills.
I feel totally stressed about it now and dreading next month incase its worse.
Thankyou for any help

Hormone Imbalance
Hi Gina,
Sounds like you have quite a Hormone imbalance to me. Can you tell me if the coil you have fitted is a Mirena?

thankyou for trying to help, I did have the merina for 2 years then I asked for it to be took out because I felt so bad!
for the past year and 5months I have been free of anything. now I feel as if something is building up and I want to nip it in the bud before it does as I feel bad enough now while going through whatever it is.
I know 3 days before a period something changes and wham everything starts hitting me after a period stops I feel it leaving me again.
The symptoms you describe with the "copper T" are pretty common (at least, most of the symptoms I had with it, which my GP said were common) and the Mirena is the same, with the added bonus of hormones. So you'd get the same potential side effects as if you were on the pill.
I would definitely say that you should steer clear of hormonal birth control methods as it sounds like you already have big hormonal swings during your cycle, without adding to it. I've had very good results treating women with reflexology for this, so if you could find a maternity reflexologist in your area, that might really help you.
Homoeopathy, herbal medicine, shiatsu, acupuncture or cranial osteopathy could all also be beneficial.
Hope that helps
Hi. So sorry to hear of your health problems. It sounds stressful as well as uncomfortable for you. Wonder if regular massage, EFT and meditation could help too. I hope you find something soon x
Gina,
I used to have similar problems to you (now I have different ones...!) in that I felt like a volcano was building up inside me each month. I felt so bad I almost hit my boss one month (not a good career move!)
One of my workmates put me on to Starflower oil. Get the capsules from a health food shop and take the highest dose you can for two months and see if you feel the difference. If you do, get the next dose down for two months and see if it's still the same. Keep trying until you get to the lowest dose you need to keep your symptoms under control (it might be the one you started with!).
Worked for me - worth a try?
Essences work wonders with hormonal imbalances. I use them and on bitches too that have imbalances during their seasons.
Hello again,
Well thats another period over and done, till next time!:(
I posted on here when I felt really bad, panic, foggy head, catching my breath and going dizzy.
I also went to the doctor the same day and was made to feel it was " in my head " I told him I didn't know my dates and could only say " round this next week sometime " but going on past months and the way I felt I would be on within 24 hours, he said it was down to me stressing out and shortness of breath and all the rest was not anything to do with coming on. No female can say they will bleed and it happen just like that, they only have a idea they should bleed round the time they say.
The next day I starting bleeding! :banghead:
Is there anyone on here that has looked into just before a period is due and when it stops, that can tell me what happens to cause the problems I have. There must be something going on inside me.
While being on, the panic thing went but the shortness of breath stayed with me first sign is me kind of stopping to, then I have to take a big breath its like I am catching up with myself, and it feels like the air isn't going in far enough its not all the time and lasts for about an hour.
I have been able to go out and mix, on Friday I went to a party and was fine but I also have had cracking headaches coming and going and its not due to drink as I didn't have any.
I went to the healthshop today and was given something by a young girl who I don't think has had any problems with periods in her short life, but I found her much more helpful than my doctor. she took time to read and check things that she thought may help and came up with a small bottle which I take 30 drops of in water each day. If I don't feel abit better she said to come back and she will find something else.

Hi ebayshopper,
It sounds to me like you are hyperventilating.
Try Googling " hyperventilation" and have a read. A good way to calm this is to breath in and out using a paper bag. This reduces the amount of Oxygen you are breathing in.
It sounds as though you need a de-stressing routine in your life- I see that quite a few therapies have already been recommended to you. I hope that you find one that suits you.
Good Luck

I think everyone who's said destress is correct.
The last few months looking back I have been stressing out about silly little things.
But why is it that the stress comes out on me just before my period, during and afew days after. It seems other times my body is fine to handle it, like normal people do, I have the same amount of stress from day to day due to my lifestyle.
I live in a very busy spot lots of noise around me, my house is hectic at all times, my kids are hectic to go with it aswell ! There is always someone wanting me. my best friend now has turned into the friend that needs to talk about her, her, her and only seems to contact me when something is bugging her. we used to go out and relax get away from everything and have a laugh. now I dread her asking me to go with her because I know I have 3/4hrs of it non stop and time spent with her at the moment adds to the rest of the stressful things around me.
I used to get away from it all in the bath but now we have building work going on outside the window. I have tried ear phones, I have tried the " I just want 5 mins of peace " to everyone but it only works once or twice then it's back to normal, nothing works.
I work from home, have no transport and only have a few good friends who I could have time with who like to go drinking which is fine, but I do not drink. my house is need of decorating which I made a start on nearly 2 years ago, by buying wallpaper only to wait for my hubby to find a mate to paper, needless to say it's still sat in the hall waiting to be used!
At the time of my period it seems I just can not handle all the little things on top and the way it comes out on me is more stress added to it all, I am in a circle that somewhere needs breaking but how to do it is another thing.
I have just read back what I have put on here and putting it down in black and white has hit me just how much stress is hitting me at the min, as the things I have put are only the tip of the iceburg.
DESTRESS ? I would love to !!!!! any ideas welcome
( it's nice to have a moan and not upset anyone doing it )

MY HAIR IS NOW FALLING OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had noticed that while washing, more hair than normal was coming out while doing it and mentioned it to my doctor, he done a harmone test which came back as normal.
Recap on 1st post
(then 9 months back all the improvement stopped I started getting a swollen throat at the front, it would swell and feel slightly sore for 2 days at most then go. I noticed this would happen every month so I went to doc who sent me for tyriod tests which came back clear, he then sent me to hoss for the cam down my throat which also was clear, that doc said it was down to hormones)
The hairloss stopped when my problem with my neck stopped.
This last month before my period I had a slight discomfort in my throat like I used to feel but not as much same place and timing.
This last week or so everytime I touch my hair strands have been coming out, my daughter who is a hairdresser asked me today if I was using anything on my hair as to her it seemed to have got thiner in my normal style. I said I hadn't and she had a look, she cuts my hair and its always been healthy so she should know. She said that it was clear to her that it had become thiner all over, and to get to the doctor as to her it could be a change in hormones.
What am I lacking does anyone know, so I am able to confront my doc when I go back with facts, or try to stop it. losing hair is not a nice thing and going on this last 2 weeks I will have none left soon!

Hi - I certainly recognise many of your symptoms, from the time that I was sterilised until I had a reversal 2 years or so ago.
I do still get some problems but much milder, and only for about 1-2 days mid-cycle and then as I start my period.
Your doc has given you blood tests, but are they always at roughly the same time of the month - ie when you feel worst and so bad that you really want to do something about it, or are there some from when you don't feel so bad? Just wondering as if your hormones are out of synch - they may be within range sometimes and not at others, and it could help to get a few tests dones - if you get a sympathetic GP who would agree to do maybe 1 a week for a month or so?
I know it can be a long hard struggle at times - and as you say you can rant away on here and not annoy anyone - so feel free to add to your posts as and when you need!!
Take care and I hope things improve
Wispy~Misty
Thankyou very much for that, :1kis:
My doc has done one blood test and that was to see if I had problems with tyriod, about 7/8 months back. I don't know what that covers but he told me if I had ANY hormone problems it would show, it didn't and he just seemed to put it down to ME.
It's 2 weeks tomorrow I came on and whatever it is, left me for about 1wk or so. Yesterday I felt it coming back on me, so its 2 days before a period, stays for 3 days or so, then goes and comes back not as bad " YET " nearly 2wks after I first come on.
Its not a panic thing as I can go out and about mixing with ease. I just feel crap. About 5 last night I had to go watch my youngest in a competion riding, I love watching her as I fell off a horse when younger and can not even stand next to one now. I also like being out in the fresh air away from the hussle. Last night I felt so crap, it was as if I had no energy and I could just have dropped. I came back from that and had to go out which I really had to push myself to do, I felt and still do today as if I have a high temp, but it's not hot flushing.
My doc would not be intrested in giving me tests, all he says is about going on anti depressants for six months to keep me level. I do not see the point of doing that as they can give you all sorts of side effects and there could be more problems to sort than I already have ! plus I don't want to take something so strong for a month to sort out 1 week of problems, it doesn't sound very good to me. I have started taking this herbal stuff and don't know if that would bring anything out on me to start with.
The old saying " got to get worse, to get better " comes to mind. today I feel abit better may be down to writing on here and knowing other girls have had the same kind of things going on, or the hour alone I grabbed in peace at 2am this morning doing a crossword.
Is there any hormone test you can do yourself without the doc sending you it seems he just isn't to bothered about finding out what is going on inside me, until maybe when he has to, I think I have said before, if it was his wife sitting in front of him I think he would try everything to find out.
should have married a doctor, I would be fixed already ! :012:

Ah - now you've said something that makes sense!
I think you may have PCOS - polycystic ovary syndrome. If you can get to see another doctor then go and get a full, and I mean full, work up of your blood tests. Ask for a referral to a gynaecologist if you can. This condition is treatable. You may need to change your diet.
Hope this helps.
Hi Chris,
My daughter has just found out she has that and is getting treatment she has been put into early menopause at the age of 20!!!!!!!!!! poor thing. One thing they did ask her is, if I had it. so you have caught my attention with that one.
No one has ever mentioned it to me don't you have alot of pain with hit and miss periods aswell, mine are every 26 days and I wouldn't class them as painful.
