I was sent information a few days ago about a new medical device called a Breast Chek which helps women check for breast lumps. I had a scare last year which thankfully turned out to be a fluid-filled cyst but I still find it difficult to check my breasts for lumps. This new device looks very promising as it consists of two layers of plastic with a special liquid layer between. It works by magnifying any lump that may be present, even a very small one and helps to distinguish between normal, lumpy breast tissue and a genuine lump. Doctors around the world seem to be very impressed with it.
Being a screening nurse who recommends that women do monthly checks each month, I am keen to try this device so have ordered some for myself. I'm also considering doing talks and demonstrations, locally if this proves to be good.
Has anyone else heard of the Breast Chek, or used one? I am interested in finding out what others think as I believe it could prove to be a lifesaver. It costs£25 which doesn't seem too expensive considering that it is meant to last for years.
RE: Breast examination
This to me sounds like a very good idea, good of you to post about this, never heard of these before but think they could be indeed a life saver! I had a breast screen check last Monday asI found a lump, (all clear!!)and I only found it by accident in the shower and generally i find itdifficult to examine my breasts as a whole. I hope this device works, I lost my mum to breast cancer and I am always for things that can help womento gainveryearly diagnosis.
RE: Breast examination
Ito came across this kit by accident. Having used itI can confirm that it is the best device available on the market- that I know of.I was so convinced thatI have since taken up the distributorship because I nowbelieve init so much. I want all my friends and family to have easy access to it.
Breast cancer has become the most common cancer in this country and every week over 700 new cases are diagnosed.35 women die from cancer everyday in this country. When it comes to breast cancer, all experts agree that early detection saves lives. In as much as finding a lump at stage 1 offers better than a95% chance of a full recovery.Lets hope that the breast chek kit will go somewhere in reducingmany of these unnecessary deaths!
I invite comments.

RE: Breast examination
Hi Leigh
It is good to hear from someone who has used the Breast Chek. Hopefully those I ordered will be with me soon.
I was at a meeting this evening, giving a talk on toxin-free toiletries. I was explaining how anti-perspirants should never be usedbecause they block the sweat glands from releasing toxins whichis thought to be why so many breast tumours appear in the upper outer quadrant of the breast. I managed to give a mention about the Breast Chek and encouraged people to take leaflets to hand out to friends and family as I am sure this will prove to be a life saver.
Good luck with getting the message out in your area.
Sue
RE: Breast examination
what do they suggest we use, other than anti-perspirants?
RE: Breast examination
Hi healthychoices,
I was wondering about the use of anti-persperants. The lump I found over the xmas period was in my left armpit and i remember someone saying about the anti-persperant blocking the sweat glands and causing cysts and all sorts. Can you recommend an anti-persperant to use? and can I ask where I can get hold of the breast chek kits.
RE: Breast examination
Hi Leigh and Jill
Deodorants are generally safer than anti-perspirants but if they contain artificial fragrances and certain other ingredients, then they are also potentially harmful as they can act as oestrogen mimics. Although this has not been proven beyond doubt, if you can avoid these substances, then it's probably wise to do so. I use a product called Subdue from Neways. It doesn't stop me sweating but it is very effective at preventing body odour. Even men use it successfully. Once you stop using anti-perspirants your body does not have to work so hard to do its job of releasing toxins, so you find you sweat less anyway.
Jill, the Breast Chek is available from Plexus Pink distributors like Leighor from [link= http://www.pinkhealth.ukhq.co.uk ]www.pinkhealth.ukhq.co.uk[/link].

RE: Breast examination
🙂
Okay thank you for your reply and letting me know where to get the Breast chek kit. I will definately look at buying something like the deodrant you use, better to be safe than sorry, alot of these commercial products do seem to have alot of harmful substances in them dont they? I remember a friend of mine who is an Aromatherapist, and since getting a degree in chemistry she is sooo against all these chemical substances, she now makes all her own soaps, creams, shampoo's etc. She told me aboutsome of the things that go into the ingredients, and I was really shocked, enough to put anyone off using these products ever again.
Thanks again 😉
RE: Breast examination
The breast chek sounds fine in principle, but being a sceptic I do wonder why if it so successful we are notbeing provided with them as an aid in breast clinics. I perform clinical breast examination as part of my job and have never been offered it.
I think anything that gets women self examining is great, I would just hate to think that potentially significant symptoms may be ignored if a lump wasn't felt (false reasssurance if you like). Not all breast cancers present as a lump, indeed many detected on screening are impalpable. To think that breast cancer is only indicated if a lump is felt is very dangerous indeed. I would suggest that a medical opinion is always sought if a woman notices any change in her breasts at all. Better to be referred and for nothing abnormal to be found than ignore something potentially significant.

RE: Breast examination
Hi keepupwith
You are right that there is more to breast examination than just discovering a lump. Changes in the size of a breast, nipple discharge, dimpling of skin and other signs are also significantsoit's important that a woman is aware of what is normal for her. The Breast Chek recommendsthese otherexaminations as part of the monthly routine.
The reason that the Breast Chek is not being used in clinics in the UK as yet is because it has only just arrived here. I am planning to go and see my ex-colleagues inthe Breast Clinic at my local hospital where I used to work as a Staff Nurse, and show them this device. In the States it has been very well received in hospitals and doctors surgeries as an additional aid to find small lumps. With earlier detection, lives will undoubtedly be saved.

RE: Breast examination
Hi
I heard about this Breast Checks device but where can you get them from or where can you get information on them to study. I would be interested to get one if they proved to be good.
Thanks.
RE: Breast examination
HI Irina, I have pm'd you. Sharon.
RE: Breast examination
Hello everyone - I think I have been before but forgotten/lost my log in details[&o]
I have just come across the Plexus Pink Breast Chek Kit and was interested to see if there has been anything much said about it yet as it is so new to the UK. Having lost a dear friend to breast cancer a couple of years ago I am very much impressed by this kit particularly as it can potentially help women detect abnormalities sooner than they might have doneotherwise. I have tested it out myself and it is quite amazinghow easily you can feel something as small as a piece of pudding rice which has been placed under a sponge with thebreast chek kit laid on top of this!
I understand there are quite a few people in the UK now making this available (I have just joined up) and I would be really interested for any feedback from anyone who can give it -I really am blown away by it and am suprised that it isn't all over the papers yet - or does anyone know why it isn't?
Thanks for any feedback.
RE: Breast examination
Hi Sue
It's good to see someone else has a Breast Chek Kit. I think there are around 200 of us in the UK who are involved with Plexus Pink, now.
It certainly is amazing that there hasn't been much in the media about it as yet but I guess we are all busy talking to people, which is the best way.
I am a nurse and I have just had a thermogram which is a non-invasive way of detecting early signs of breast abnormalities. It can detect changes as much as 8 years before a mammogram. I'm delighted to know that I have no abnormalities in my breasts so that is very reassuring. The doctor at The Chiron Clinic I went to in Harley Street is very interested in the Breast Chek as he thinks it goes hand in hand with the thermoscans.
If you know anyone who would be interested in a Thermoscan who could get to London, please get in touch as I am now registered to do referrals to The Chiron Clinic.
I wish you well with telling people about the Breast Chek and make sure you get onto the UK conference calls on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Best wishes
Sue
Plexus Pink - going around in circles!
Help!
I am interested in distributing Plexus Pink and I'm trying to find out how it works - I don't want to get into an MLM-type scheme, and I don't want to end up slooging to sell something for little or no return for me. (spot the person who's been bitten in the past!)
The US website doesn't really answer my questions, and every time I try to find out more I just keep getting pointed back to the same website that doesn't really help!
Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks!
With love,
Amber
