RE: Alternatively Endo
I found this today and thought it very interesting........
Endometriosis symptoms, treatment and liver health
Endometriosis is the most common cause of pelvic pain in women of reproductive age. It afflicts millions of women in America. Yet the medical profession has a limited understanding of this disease. Endometriosis occurs when endometrial cells which normally line the uterus somehow grow on other pelvic organs such as the outside of the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the uterus, etc. The mislocated cells can develop into cysts, scars or adhesions which may lead to infertility. Symptoms may include chronic pelvic pain, severe menstrual pain, painful bowel movements during menstruation, constant fatigue, allergies and infertility. It usually ends with menopause as the estrogen level decreases, but estrogen replacement therapy can reactivate the disease because it raises the estrogen level.
Various medical therapies may temporarily relieve the symptoms of endometriosis by suppressing estrogen level but they often lead to the absence of menstruation and decreased fertility. Surgery is not the answer because endometrial cells grow back in different areas sooner or later unless the root of the problem is addressed. Pregnancy and birth control pills can control the symptoms temporarily but are also incapable of eradicating the disease.
My experience with endometriosis
As an endometriosis sufferer for more than 15 years, I hope my experience can help other sufferers. Other than juvenile arthritis which started at the age of 14, hay fever and allergy to dust and pollen, I was never bothered by my period (except feeling fatigue) until my early 30's. I started having pain and experienced fainting with every period. The pain increased over the years. In 1984 I passed out one day during my period in a subway train (fortunately I wasn't driving). The ambulance took me to a hospital where I was examined by a woman doctor. She told me that I had a thick and hard uterine wall for unknown reasons. A gynecologist was then called in. He told me that I had a big fibroid in my uterus and should be checked with ultrasound as soon as possible. The ultrasound "confirmed" the big fibroid. He suggested a hysterectomy immediately but I refused. Half a year later my family moved and I went to see a top gynecologist in Toronto. He told me that my fibroid was actually very small and should cause no concern but that I had endometriosis which was my real problem. When I told him that my big fibroid was confirmed by ultrasound, he simply said "they must have mistaken water for fibroid". Unless the pain became unbearable, he would not advise me to take any medication. I accepted the chronic pain as part of my life and tried to live as normally as I could. During those years constant fatigue and allergies also bothered me, but I did not know that they were all related. As I advanced in years, all the above problems became more severe and new problems continued to appear. By my late 30's, I had problems sleeping, frequent urination, and my skin became dull, grey and yellowish with constant breakouts. In 1989, my thyroid problem started and my fingers sometimes felt numb in the morning.
I decided to see a traditional Chinese doctor. He correctly diagnosed that I had liver congestion by reading my pulse. From my experience working for more than 6 years in the medical laboratory of a large hospital in Toronto, I recognized that unlike liver inflammation or infections which show elevated liver enzyme levels in blood due to enzymes released from ruptured liver cells, liver congestion or weakness cannot be detected in blood tests. This is due to the fact that the liver cells are still intact and therefore do not release liver enzymes into the blood. In fact I had two blood tests done prior to my visit to the Chinese doctor and they were both normal. In general, blood tests will not reveal liver congestion or weakness.
How I overcame endometriosis
Unfortunately Chinese medicine does not understand hormones or endometriosi
RE: Alternatively Endo

RE: Alternatively Endo
Sorry Tammy - not my story. I cut and pasted it from the website above. I wish I had this lady's laboratory skills! Chinese Medicine is new to me but I would love to learn more about it. I know that the Neways Chinese Formulas are supposed to be very effective but they are a bit secretive about the ingredients! I think they bought the rights to some old medical scrolls or something? Jamie Mason would no doubt know the full story.
I can't help thinking that modern "Western" Medicine has it all wrong. America seem to me to be the unhealthiest country in the world for all their drugs and surgeons.

RE: Alternatively Endo
Hi Tammy, I have given you my details on my case history before, but think Endo has definatly raised its ugly stinking head once again. I have been suffering in between periods each month since my last son 18 months ago, but the pains are slowly becoming worse both off and on a period. I have also noticed over last few months that bowel movement is becoming a problem and discomfort where sex is concerned (sorry if to much detail.) I didn't even realise that my constant state of tiredness and falling asleep in day could be connected to Endometriosis.
I am putting off going to doctors as 1) its not done me much use in last 16 or so years and 2) I am not prepaired to go in hospital before christmas (been ther done that, each time i've told a doctor about the problem.)
So i was wondering what you do/take to help, and what if anything do you take when suffering with the severe pain. I generally try to cope but with 4 boys to look after and my job been standing behind a till all evening sometimes i need something and paracetamols etc are like sweets as i've been taking them for so many years.
Warmth in the cold days and nights

RE: Alternatively Endo
suprise...i have deleted this post as someone cut and pasted it and put it on an endo website where i was having a few debates this week. all my own fault of course but it got out of hand and then to cut and paste it and show it to make me feel even lousier, rediculous really but i guess what goes around....;)
RE: Alternatively Endo
sorry to intrude here, ladies, just a thought:
have you ever looked into the use of *natural* progesterone for endometriosis?
It's used predominantly by post-menopausal women (including me, for 5 years now) as a safe alternative to HRT...but it also has positive effects on a wide range of female complaints related to oestrogen/progesterone imbalances.
Here is a website with masses of information www.johnleemd.com
hope someone finds this useful!
RE: Alternatively Endo
yes i use Endau by neways its a natural progesterone cream not like the synthetic products you get from the doctors. it has been very beneficial for me and other ladies are learning about it too. HRT is not good its synthetic and it should be banned! but thats another story and i am so tired right now maybe another time. I am going to add some stuff on natural Prog. cream/s on my website thanks for posting. The natural products are the best and the progesterone helps to balance out the hormones but endo is not all to do with hormone imbalance it effects people very differently they are even looking at those who are born prematurely! like me! so thats interesting too. will keep you posted and i try and add up to minute info on my website.
keep learning and keep sharing thats the key

RE: Alternatively Endo
Hello Tammy, I have had 2 lapo's in past, which is how i've finally been diagnosed before. This is also why i am waiting till after christmas to see doctor. I've done hormone tablets before and the pill continually, both to no avail. I am a little apprehencive about drugs from the doctor, after taking myself off anti-depresents earlier this year. I am now clear of all regular medication, and even though i have a rather naff diet at moment do intend on sorting myself out in more ways than one after new year.
Thanks for all info, i will look properly on your site when have spare 2 mins.
Warmth to all

RE: Alternatively Endo
Hi Rache!
keeping yourself natural is actually a very good move. I am waiting for my last depo jab to wear off and i am never taking anything else again, conventional that is. I now have burning wee! that is burning my skin and well i wont go into it! its literatally bleach! which i believe is a chemical imbalance. I believe and many will disagree that we can cure ourselves by finding the imbalance and rectifiying it. I am starting an amino acid treatment from australia next week so i will report back. you are nearly there! look at your diet and dont be too critical, but try and take veggies and fruit juice when you can with plenty water.
brown rice and oats are very relaxing for the digestive tract.
