Hiya everyone
Anyone know the best thing for sunburn. My hubby spent the afternoon topless doing the garden and now he is burnt badly. I been applying lots of moisturising lotion, but his skin is so tight he can hardly move.
Any remedys anyone? All sugestions welcome?

RE: Remedies Wanted For Sunburn
Could try some Aloe Vera directly from the plant if possible. I also put some witch hazel on earlier this year whilst on holiday, seemed to help but might be a bit drying. HTH

I'd have to agree with aloe vera, it's wonderful. 🙂

My Aloe Vera plant is only 4 inches high so I guess I am not going to get much juice out of that, lol. Can you buy the juice and apply it directly to the the skin. I have applyed after sun and moisteriser all day and during the night, but it is not helping much, it is still very sore and painful for him.

A great homeopathic remedy for sunburn in Apis Mel.
It really helps.- taken in the usual pilule/pill form
(just checked and apparently Cantharis is also good - as of course is Calendula smoothed onto the skin)

Yes good old Aloe Vera.
I got burn last week. Slap (perhaps not slap) plenty on and keep putting it on till it dies down. There is nothing better. It won't take away the redness but it will take away the stinging.

[:o]Oh my, poor guy! I am sure he is blistering, cracking and peeling by now -- but for the future here's what I have learned (it is sub-tropical here, sunburn on pasty white "snowbirds" is an all too common ailment; )
First and foremost: Cleanse the skin with a mild, gentle soap in a cool shower. Cool compresses of a solution of vinegar and water, or soaking in it will help heal, keep it disinfected, and soothe it.
Slather Aloe Vera on every time you think of it. I mean literally every 10 or 15 minutes. It is the best thing for it. I advise a trip to the drugstore (not sure what you call them there, pharmacy?) or where ever you'd normally buy suntan lotion... get a high quality gel with the highest percentage of aloe vera possible.
Drink lots and lots of water -- i.e. force fluids. A 1000 miligrams or whatever the dosage is for your preferred pain reliever, like our Advil taken religiously every 4 hours will help with the pain.
I'll bet I don't have to say this one... Next time use sun protection and keep reapplying it regularly. Wear a shirt if you're the color of a marshmellow LOL.

RE: Remedies Wanted For Sunburn
I am fanatical about staying out of the sun, and never apply suncream as I am always covered up and in the shade. However....about 3 weeks ago I had a little strappy t-shirt on and was in the mega shade on my lafuma and fell asleep. 1 hour later i had discovered that the sun had moved......how dare it!
Needless to say, mega sunburn on my almost virgin skin.
I spent the next 12 hours applying natural yogurt, lavender oil and neat aloe vera from the plant every 15 minutes. I still hurt, I still went redder and redder and got NO relief.
A few days later I happened to read on HP about using peppermint oil, so I tried it, and OH BOY instant relief!!!!
I am a practising aromatherapist so am totally shamed into not thinking of the cooling properties of peppermint, instead slavishly applied lavender and chamomile roman.
The aloe did nothing. the yogurt gave momentary relief.
I will once again be fanatical about staying out of the sun, be covered up, etc, etc, for the next 10 years until I forget and once again fall asleep in the sun, but at least this time PEPPERMINT will be firmly imprinted into my brain.
