hi everyone!
during the puberty i had a very oily skin that is now, due to all the products i used for oily skin, dehydrated, often peelsand isvery sensitive. howeverit still tends to get very oily during the day, and i still have large and clogged pores, which makes my skin difficult to look after. if i use products for sensitive/dry skin they tend to make my skin very oily on the surface which doesn't sort its dehydration either. if i use products for oily skin it makes it so dry i feel like i'm wearing a mask-that's how tight it gets.. i should also mention that i have rosacea (early stages).
i've done so much research and i haven't found any advice on such a complicated skin..
could anyone recommend something?
any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
Before I look at products, I would look at nutrition - maybe it is ok, but it is definitely worth looking at.
Do you drink plenty of water, either on its own or in herbal teas or even squash/fruit juice? Normal tea and coffee doesn't help so much. Do you eat plenty of fruit and veg? Do you limit the amount of fried and processed foods that you eat?
You don't have to answer these questions here, but certainly look at your diet as that is the biggest player in skin condition - products can only do so much.
Then I would look for products that are natural, and free from some of the chemicals that are often added to skincare to increase its shelf-life, for example. Maybe have a look in the beauty Therapies thread about organic products for example. I posted these about MiEssence - I haven't used it yet, but from what I have read about it, the ingredients it uses naturally cleanses without using comodegenic ingredients and so over time can help clear up the build up that occurs with some products. It is expensive though, there may well be other products listed on the thread that work similarly.
They have a list of the types of ingredients in cosmetic preparations, so you can have a look to see if there any in particular you should be avoiding here: www.mionegroup.com/Education/Toxicingredients.aspx
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
hi Trow!
thanks for the reply. yes my diet is a big problem as i'm always on the move, always have a quick bite of sth i shouldn't and although lately i've been drinking plenty of water and increased veggie intake i didn't give up the bad things...
something i'm ashamed of is that actually i've been diagnosed with intolerance to loads of foods but the naturopath i went to see had a horrible i'm-the-expert-and-u-should-do-what-i-say attitude and never really answered properly my questions so i wasn't persuaded to put my heart into it...but i guess it'sabout time i did sth..
those organic products you recommended to have a lookatare yummy but unfortunately they don't ship to my country.. [:o]
ok, rolling up the sleeves and making a food list... 🙂
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
hello, ive just read your post,im not sure if you have found anything for your skin yet,but if not i would recommend dermalogica products. All products from dermalogica are non comedogenic and water soluble which makes them ideal for difficult skins. My skin is very dry and sensitive but i also suffer from angry breakouts,i use dermalogica products,so does my mum and boyfriend.Ive tried most other brands including liz earle, decleor, elemis,(there are lots more!),I found these brands worked for a few weeks or so then my skin started to look and feel much worse. There is a website that sells dermalogica (the cheapest you will find)they offer you advice online and recommend the best products for your skin. They also offer you samples before you buy just incase you dont like them.Im not too sure if im allowed to mention the name of the website on here??!If i am get back to me and ill tell you.
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
I think re-evaluating your diet is a great idea, because using different products on your skin won't treat the real problem.
I think it would be great for you to also get a series of professionalfacial treatments to get your skin back on track. Maybe once a week for a month. Your therapist will also be able to reccommend products better than any of us on here because she will be able to analyze your skin closely. She will also be able to instruct you on the use of these products.
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
please put a link to the site as I would like to take a look too.
I use Liz Earle but have just had some Dr Hauskca (spelling?) and wasn't impressed with it.

strawberry blonde!, it's quite OK for you to post a link to an external website if it's relevant to the topic, provided that it isn't either your own website or that of a company/organisation with which you're personally involved, and might be seen to be promoting or advertising.
I hope that clarifies, but please feel free to PM me if you're not sure.

RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
thanks for your reply, this may sound stupid but how do i post a link as apposed to just writing the name of the site?(im terrible with computers!)
RE: complicated skin.. what to use?
You go to the website. At the top of your screen you'll see the address bar with the website's name after [link= http://www ]http://www[/link] [egfor this thread it's [link= http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=437612&mpage=1񱧋 ]http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=437612&mpage=1񱧋[/link]with the red apple logo at the front].
Right click it with your mouse. It will turn blue. Choose 'copy' from the drop down menu. Then, in your reply window where you're typing your post, right click again and choose 'paste'. To make sure it's 'live', then click on Preview to check it, then on OK.
And stop telling yourself you're rubbish with computers ... it gives your subconscious the idea that this is true! ;):D Better to pat yourself on the back when you've successfully learned something new.

hope you enjoy looking.
One problem might be with simply your shower. If you think of all the chemicals such as chlorine etc they have to put into muincipal water to make it safe, it's scary. What more scary is the fact that you can absorb as much as 600% more chlorine in a 10 minute hot shower than if you were drinking the same water all day.
My family have just installed a shower filter and it's amazing. My sister has extremely itchy legs over 3 years, which has caused them to scar. We've tried many things with no luck, but now we've started using this filter, the itching has calmed down meaning her legs can now start the healing process.
The filter not only takes out the contamminants, it also enhances the water increasing skin hydration by 115% (meaning an anti-aging shower!!) and giving it many other properties such as a natural antioxidant. Let me know if you want more info. The company's website is http://www.wellnessfilters.com and a UK distributor is [DLMURL] http://www.wellnessoutofwater.com [/DLMURL]
