Hi

I have recently been having massages to try and a)realign my neck and b) treatment for fibromyalgia. Frustratingly after the last two which were fairly strong (but not v painful) sports massages, focusing on the neck and shoulders, a couple of days later I got head colds/sinus/pain and felt really unwell with a lot of thirst and hunger, which is usually what I feel when starting to get a cold, but this did not develop into a cold and just stayed around. This has stopped me from going out. although the massage initially gives me freedom from the spinal problem and fibromyalgia, I can only suspect that my immune system is so rubbish and there are so many toxins being moved around that I get more ill folllowing the massage. I am so upset and frustrated as just want to get well, have suffered the pain for many years and tried many therapies/diets/exercise all to no avail. It seemed that the sports massage therapist might be able to help as I felt such a dramatic reduction in the neck and shoulder pain. She also does trigger point therapy but has not begun this yet due to the layers of tensions she needs to release first. Any advice on what I should do would be very welcome. i wonder whether my underlying condition is too weak to handle this sort of treatment? There is no point continuing if it is causing other problems. I do drink about 1/2 litre of water a day and eat plenty of veg and fruit and hardly eat any junk food. I have suffered from autoimmune type problems for many years. I Dyson my whole flat regularly as this seems to help. I seem to sneeze a lot on trains - no idea what is so toxic or dirty in them but my body reacts to them. I get alot of bloating and have just started L glutamine. I also get loud gut noises. The sinus headaches are so severe that I get moody and depressed. Thanks there is probably a lot more to say but I am weak and upset, not sure where to turn.

were you told about CONTRA-ACTIONS as your "coming down with a cold" feeling is what the contra-actions can feel like.

Treat it as a positive sign as a contra action is a REACTION to treatment. Most people focus on benefits but contra actions is just another reaction.

give it time. rest. drink fluids. have a duvet day.

and when you write a paragraph like this, please put gaps in to make it easier to read. I only read the first few lines and switched off, so have only answered to the words that I have read.

Thanks. I understand this but wasn't told this time by the therapist. It just feels that the symptoms are so bad that it may be counterproductive - it has caused me to feel very stressed, depressed and worried, plus having fibromyalgia I am already fed up of so many symptoms for years on end, so frankly just want to start to feel better. It has caused a lot of neck tension to come back because I'm so unhappy.:( Thanks for advice on posting as well - didn't realise I had done this!

Help at hand.

I have found a herbal remedy is the best thing for sinusitis. I tried everything including repeated antibiotics. A powerful anti inflammatory mix will do it. And although I am a massage therapist I also think a reflexologist might be a better idea in this case. Best of luck!
