Hi,
It is ages since I visited H P and I suppose that's because I have been relatively healthy since my last (slipped disc) posts.
Kidney stones have cursed my life since I was 25, so much so that i have almost got used to the attendant colic!! I have tried to count how many I have had these last 37 years and it amounts to LOTS !!lol. I seem to get them every 5 years,on either side and have had Lithotripsy for 3 of them and even passed some of them without much pain, save for a jolt as they exit towards the toilet pan, from where I have retrieved them to show friends!!
3 months ago I got another bout of the colic, on a Sunday, in my right side and after 6 hours the thing passed into the bladder and 3 weeks later I passed it. Meanwhile I was called for an I V P which revealed that I have a large stone in the left Kidney and today the consultant informed me that the stone was too big for lithotripsy and would have to be removed surgically!!
Keyhole surgery he said and I would like to know if anyone out there has undergone this surgery. I am not that worried because I have now started to feel the stone am increasingly more uncomfortable because of it and want it gone.
So go on and reassure me and tell me that it's not too bad an operation, please.
Chris

Hiya
I can't help with your question, but I have kidney stones too and wanted to say how much I sympathise with you! The problem hasn't been as bad since I moved from a soft water area (Barnsley, South Yorkshire) to a hard water area (West Midlands). I have friends who had had operations for stone removal and they have been back at work in less than a week, which I found astonishing.

I think this is due to access acidity in your body, the acids crystalize as stones, a form of acid waste - the same as other acid wastes that the body constantly produces (like lactic acid after excercise) to maintain alkaline balance.

Drink lots of alkaline ionized water - this would slowly alkalize the body, and might over time help to dissolve and eliminate the stones.

There is a process sometimes called "Liver Cleanse" (google it), that is good at removing gallstones, and may be good for kideneys too - you drink a cup of olive oil with lemon juice squeezed in it. I've not done it myself (I prefer full body cleanses) but have friends that do it, and its worth a try.

I only had kidney stones once - had to go to the emergency room, have them removed - the good news was, I was put under an anesthetic, the doctor did not have to cut me open at all - ! - and I was released the next day, home rest one day, back to work the next day.
