The writer of this testimony was told by the hospital that he was faced with the choice of either a kidney transplant or a lifetime on dialysis. He is the Africa correspondent of the Christian Science Monitor - an international newspaper and had been working on an expose of the illegal trade in human kidneys, when he contracted cerebral malaria, which led to acute kidney failure.
