Poor you and poor Mum - is there anyone you can talk to in the healthcare system?
It's my understanding that with good stimulation the brain is very adaptive.
She's so lucky to have you as support, but make sure you get support yourself.
Much love and best wishes to your situation,
Sharonx

RE: memory loss from brain surgery

Dear deliverme,

I send you and your family all my love and best wishes. Firstly do not blaim yourself, your Mother has undergone a very serious operation and very few people survive, but she has and as you say, she is changed. Also your father is taking this very hard - again - this is not your fault so - if you want to remain in good health yourself - do not take on everyone else's burdon. Look after you, this is very important when you are a healer - as you are.

I'm a spiritual healer, which involves laying on hands or keeping the hands about 2 centimetres away from the body. Do you give your Mum healing? If not try it. Spend 10 minutes just quietly meditating and ask the Universe/God/ the Supreme Being to use you as his healing channle -put your hands on her shoulders - and let the enrgy flow through you. Ask her how she feels, just be aware that she may get warm, then pull away. But try this every day and if she likes the contact and peace that it will give her - continue.

There is so much that we can do ourselves, without medical attention, and it all boils down to giving our love.

I send you mine
Love

RE: memory loss from brain surgery

Your mum had the aneurysm clipped because the aneurysm in the brain was large enough to be clipped. Smaller aneurysms in the brain's vascular system are harder to find and treat and are the cause of memory loss or "dementia" to use the medical term resulting from small vessel disease in the brain.
Dementia can be caused by "Multiple-infarcts" as your mum possibly has, or by Alzheimer's disease (degenerative dementia) or simply by old age , senile dementia.

The best option for you now would be to prevent this dementia from becoming progressive as it is liable to be as the disease in the smaller vessels causes them to occlude. This will involve meticulous observation of your mum, titration of her warfarin dose and liasion with the neurosurgeons if she functionally worsens.

I am a doctor and this is all the help I can offer you. You are welcome to try alternative therapy ( as I myself am here in this board to do !)

But remember thatunhelpful as it may sound this is your opportunity to stop this medically (usually) irreversiblecondition and to arrest it where it is just now.

This is the time to provide your mum with tender, loving, care...
