Anybody any ideas. I have pain in my shoulder and left arm, can't raise arm above shoulder and can't fasten bra. I have had accupuncture any other suggestions as to what it is and what I can do about it as it aches with pain on movement. I am not a lover of ordinary doctors.
I found Bowen to be very helpful...and then I follwwed this with a visit to physiotherpaist and did the exercises he gave me for several weeks, to address rotator cuff pain

Hi Retired Lady,
What has been happening to you in your home situation recently? Has it changed and are you now bearing more of the responsibility. Is this a burden for you, particularly in your mind? How are you holding onto the experiences of your life at this time? you can pm me if you like.
Cheers
It looks like there's a clutch of threads like this. I can only say that your symptoms remind me exactly of having a trapped nerve. The actual trapping and source of the problem was in the neck part of the spine. Do consider an NHS referral to a physio, as they solved my problem very well twice, and what's to lose as it's free? 🙂

Yes, there are now several threads on the same topic ... this one was moved over from General Health.

Agreed, even though our new member says she isn't a lover of ordinary doctors. It would be a good idea to visit the GP anyway and ask for a referral, though on the NHS there could well be a waiting list of several weeks.

It's an epidemic, I tell you!
Hi retired lady! I'm a fellow sufferer and I've been exercising to keep my arm working - yoga, Pilates and swimming. I've also booked an appointment with a chiropractor for next week. I too want to avoid going down the GP/hospitial referral route if possible. BTW I think mine came about from using my laptop so I'm trying to ration my computer time now. (Not very successfully!)

Hello retired lady!
I had hideous shoulder issue for about five years, it just became part of my life and even when I thought it was over, I had just assimilated it into a compensating posture. Ridiculous. So, yes, get yourself some attention soon as poss.
I have been using bioenergy healing for a few months, and one eve I felt my shoulder release, it moved downwards significantly (i wasn't even doing a treatment on myself at the time, but it was a culmination of several sessions); the next eve another release happened, moving my clavicle back, like it slotted back into its rightful place. After so long, this felt like a revelation.
I am a yoga fan too, keep yourself exercising to keep mobility in the area.
This sounds like 'frozen shoulder'. It seems to happen for no apparent reason, and can take from 1 - 2 years to get better! 🙁
Although it looks as if retired lady is not too interested in the replies - she hasn't returned here to suss them out!
