Hi jh - there is a good description of the condition on the BBC website:
[DLMURL] http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/raynauds1.shtml [/DLMURL] - it isn't really an 'illness', more a chronic condition that can be maintained with good self-care. My husband has it quite badly, and has to wear silk thermal underwear/socks/gloves with normal underwear/socks/gloves on top - the tip of his nose also loses sensation and turns white when the weather is really cold! Shame it doesn't glow red - I could call him Rudolf!!
