Well what a mixed bag I have going on and I wonder if anyone can shed some light?

A few weeks go I had what I initially thought was a cold, however it developed more into a constant coughing/coughing up, I was in Spain at the time but as It was not clearing after 2 weeks at home, I went to my Doctor, told I had a chest infection and given 7 days antibiotics. Still coughing for a few days after they finished but it was Easter time so no appointments. After a few more days it finally stopped.

Then about a week after this, I got bowel pain (this is normal for me every so often) as I have diverticulitis. Felt really washed out with it, then when this subsided, I woke with what felt like itchy bumps on my shoulder and a little around my side, after two days it looked what I thought may be shingles, went to docs, he 'thought' this also but said just to leave and it will go away. Just aa well I did not take anything as I know now this is NOT shingles, but I am getting odd itchy tiny bumps popping up, here and there, just an odd one on ankle, wrist, back. In addition to which I also now have the terrible cough back and coughing up also.

Has me worn out and baffled and frustrated, yes I will go back to docs next week, but quite honestly the buggers worry me, seems like they just play guess games with everything.

Jeanie dear, I would not ask on forums. Please make an urgent appointment to see your GP. be assertive and force the issue. It is urgent that you should know what's causing this. Maybe it is nothing nasty, but we need to rule that possibility out. Let people not make random or educated guesses, but have a proper prognosis. Once you know what's what, you can deal with it in million ways.
Hope all is well

GPs are just that - general practitioners so they do not specialise hence why you think they guess. Your condition may be outside their field of knowledge so ask to be sent to a chest specialist, i.e. to be referred. Good luck.

The idea that a doctor can always 'know' what is wrong is sadly a fallacy. Diagnosis is normally an informed guess. These events may well be unrelated. But jnani is right. you must talk to your doctor asap . Make sure you make all the points you wish to make so the doctor understands what your concerns are. He cannot answer your questions if he doesn't understand what your want to know.

I will try Jnani

Saw doc yesterday, gave me an ECG as it appeared my heart was racing, told her it was 'purely because of being in surgery' anyway it was fine. Needed her to concentrate on my cough! which is just terrible, gave me 7 day course of Doxycycline Capsules. Took two straight away but I was sick not long afterwards, leaflet states if sick within 30 minutes take two again, but I can't be sure if it was 15/20/25 or 30 minutes, so what does one do then.
Chemist told me to take two when I got home, and one a day thereafter, I felt really poorly and soon as I arrived home I took the two 'before looking at leaflet' why didn't she highlight the sickness half hour thing as well.
Didn't have a clue what my spots/itching is, but not Shingles!!

At least it's not heart...by the looks of it.
If they do not know, are they going to refer you to someone? They should have arranged for some blood samples to be tested for various things.
Is the cough bacterial? I bet they didn't even try to ascertain that. Anti biotic for a viral cough won't work...anti biotics are being dispensed like jelly beans.

Persistent cough can be pneumonia...it's easy to miss it. Doctors can do that fairly often.
Itching- Google and see what causes that. It is a host of things that can cause that from small things to biggies.
Be assertive nad ask to see a get some tests done...
Don't let them be wispy wsahy
Good luck
