I have the beginnings of a UTI and want to nip it in the bud. I tend to not drink enough, which is what causes it. So now I’m at it all the time. For other suggestions I looked up UTI home remedies.
Some recommend lots of sour things, to make the urine acid. Others tell me to take baking soda so it becomes more alkaline. One site even recommends both ( https://www.curejoy.com/content/natural-home-remedies-for-urinary-tract-infection/ ).
What am I to think?

My daughter, who was plagued with UTI's for a few years, was told to stick with simple water. She tried everything, but things only started to resolve after she stopped and stuck to plain old Adams Ale!

In the end I just had to go with what made it better and what made it worse. In my case this was: no sour things at all and certainly no lemon juice (and plenty of water and no sugar and try cut down on the stress ....). It's gone now I'm glad to say.

Hi Anne Mary, I like the fact that you asked for help when you were in difficulty. And responded later-on when the condition got cured. This is quite uncommon on forums. I also keep developing the infection, and boy is it troublesome. My docs suggest that it's some vitamins (always forget the a.b.c's) deficiency. So, I take some medications. It helps for a while. But the condition recurs. I was looking for a permanent solution to this. Now I will follow your suit. Let's see if it gets any better. Thanks very much!

Please Marielaure, let me know how you get on! This particular approach - observing what makes it better and what makes it worse - worked for me, but people are never the same and it may not work for everyone.
Trying to find the root cause is difficult, and only you yourself can do that. If anyone.
I'm always interested in other people's experiences.
There is a big difference, I think, between taking supplements (vitamins or minerals), and taking proper chemical medicines. Medicines don't address the cause and therefore don't help for very long. They may even do more damage.
