For years I have had slim limbs, ankles and wrists (have to get links taken out of watches), but my tummy has always been large.
I do not have a fat face, and my chest plate is not fat
I am 45 now - and it is very frustrating.
I even asked the nurse at my surgery the other day, and she just said mabye I was 'made this way'
I know it is silly to ask after all of this time - but just thought I would see if anybody had any ideas
Buying clothes can be a nightmare sometimes.
Andy ideas?

Hi Goody 🙂
What came to mind Is a picture of an African _You know the Images that we see on the t.v. In regards to the poverty and the starvation that's ongoing In their country .
Many Images are of skin and bone and yet they have at times bloated stomachs .
In this Instance It refers to something known as Kwashiorkor .
This Is what Is mentioned on the subject . See If you see anything that rings a bell In relation to what kinda diet you have .
kwashiorkor . It is now accepted that protein deficiency, in combination with energy and micronutrient deficiency, is necessary but not sufficient to cause kwashiorkor. The condition is likely due to deficiency of one of several types of nutrients (e.g., iron, folic acid, iodine, selenium, vitamin C), particularly those involved with anti-oxidant protection. Important anti-oxidants in the body that are reduced in children with kwashiorkor include glutathione, albumin, vitamin E and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Therefore, if a child with reduced type one nutrients or anti-oxidants is exposed to stress (e.g. an infection or toxin) he/she is more liable to develop kwashiorkor.

Hi Goody
Have a look at this for some practical ideas Womens health issues by Dr Marilyn Glenville

You could try the 'Paleo' diet for a week and see what happens.
Basically, fill up on lean meat with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. No grains (wheat, rice, etc.,) or grain products (bread, pasta, etc.,) and no potatoes.
I've seen some amazing transformations at my gym by people trying this way of eating.
If you post your food diary on here, someone will be sure to comment and give you some tips.
Thank you for your replies
I have looked up those symptoms - and I do not seem to have them
a food diary would be good.
fat is just a storage system in the body, just because you have slim limbs means nothings really. most people store fat around the middle as this is where we have the most fat cell. it sounds like you have a slim frame so im guessing might not have much muscle, which in turn will not need many calories to work.
walking, running or any exercise which is longer than 30 minutes twice a day will help greatly, maybe add a weights routine once a week, you wont build big muscles so dont be afraid of the weights.
control your diet but dont let it overtake your life, its a lifestyle change so it need to be something you will stick with and enjoy and make for the rest of your life.
a good rule on portion size is;
protein = size of your palm
carbs = size of your fist
veg = size of your whole hand

I do eat quite a healthy diet, and I do not have a sweet tooth 🙂

I would suggest that anyone posting on here is highly unlikely to have Kwashiorkor - this is an illness of very severe malnutrition.
Hi goody66
I would suggest that it might be a surfeit of sugar and processed carbohydrates which, when they are not used up for energy immediately are deposited round the belly area as fat. Vanessa has pointed to a good site - this page specifically explains things. She also has an excellent page on diet, but as Derek suggests a Paleo diet may be helpful too - you may need to experiment to see what suits you.
I cannot comment on why or how you have kept slim arms and legs - I'd love to know the secret 😉 :D, but we are all made slightly differently and our bodies react differently to our living experiences. In days of hunter-gathering, it was vital to be able to store food in the body as there were frequent times of famine, which alternated with times of plenty. So food storage was an excellent survival strategy for the human race.
Nowadays we have such an abundance of food it is difficult to switch off this process, but they are finding there are connections with hormones - ghrelin and leptin among others - and it is also being shown that the balance of our gut flora can have an enormous influence on our metabolism.
All interesting stuff!!
The most important factor in helping one lose tummy fat is regular cardiovascular exercise. This does not mean taking casual walks. Generally, depending upon ones age, one should work out for at least 15-20 minutes, five days a week,Aerobic.dancing, jogging, fast walking, jazzercise, swimming, and using stair steppers, bicycles or ski machines can all help one lose tummy fat.

hey goody66,
since your diet is healthy then it may be your bodies way of protecting itself. i have seen this with a lot of healers and people who meditate a lot. when you deal a lot with energies then the body automatically insulates or protects the mind (around the solar plexus area or the navel) by accumulating a layer of fat in that region.
If that is not the case or even if it is the case try the XBX canadian plan for women which is an amazing 12 min workout aimed at inch loss. easy to do and not time consuming.
