i dont understand why this happens but everytime i take probiotics my breath gets really smelly and the coating on my tongue gets much worse and more of a yellow colour. any ideas why this might happen? i tried 3lac and it was REALLY bad and i just had to stop it. it also happens with ordinary probiotics. i do sometimes suffer with bad breath and a coating on my tongue but it is always more pronounced when i take them!
RE: bad breath and probiotics
There is obviously an imbalance of some sort in your digestive system and probiotics alone will not be sufficient to remedy the problem. You are very likely killing off some of the bad bacteria every time you take the probiotics and dead bacteria do give off sulphurous vapours. If you were a patient of mine I would be carrying out tests to see where the problem lies in the digestive spectrum - for example, are you producing enough stomach acid or is unprocessed food just fermenting in your gut, are you producing enough enzymes,. do you have a leaky gut, etc., etc. You need to find a good nutritional therapist who carries out these tests.

Hi Vicki,
What type of probiotic are you taking? Is it in liquid form like a probiotic drink or tablet form?
RE: bad breath and probiotics
I ask the same question as Azalia - as many of the liquid probiotics in supermarkets contian sugar that would likely aggravate if a yeast/fungal problem.
The sugar free ones tend to have artificial sweetners in that you may not get along with.
Suggest the capsule form from a health food shop, 20 - 30 mins before food with water that is not chilled.
