Hello,
I haven't posted for a while however thought someone might be able to help.
What are your thoughts on the machines you can buy to help with improving your pelvic floor muscles? I need to get these muscles working properly.
Very frustrated as there is really no reason for they not working!
Thanks
LynnMac

Hello Lynn,

Am not sure what machines you are asking about - but I do know that rebounders (mini trampolines) are great for the pelvic floor and you get an exercise workout too. Callanetics is also an option - look for classes near you. They will improve your pelvic floor and give you a brilliant figure at the same time.

Mini-trampolines didn't work for me (stress incontinence!!) - I was referred to a physiotherapist who specialised in gynae work. I think the 'machine' you are referring to may be here http://www.pelvictoner.co.uk The physio used something very similar and it was very effective. I also took up Pilates which really helped as well.

I also have stress incontinence and can't even run round the block without wetting myself so the mini trampoline may not be the best - though it sounds like great fun! 🙂
At the moment I have a horrible cough which is bad enough without its other effect and need as many ideas as possible.
Yes I was meaning the cleo discreet [DLMURL] http://www.club-cleo.com/products/cleo-systems/cleo-q-discreet-pelvic-toner/ [/DLMURL] and kegel8 type machines http://www.kegel8.co.uk/home1.html?gclid=CO2s-ci92qcCFQod4QoduBCv9A . I was being vague yesterday to avoid going down anyone avenue. Have you any experience of them? before I go out and spend money on something I wouldn't then use or benefit from. Their websites look all singing and dancing.
I had bought pelvic toner years ago but found it tricky to use so just kind of gave up. 😮 Will need to find it and give it another go though and I am hopely joining a Pilates class in the next few weeks.

Why not have a chat with a local pharmacist or the staff in Boots - they usually have these devices. I think the physio I saw used something like a Kegel, but it was German and had a different name. It took a few sessions (6 I think) before I saw any real improvement, but she was excellent at making me think about my pelvic floor - and I do it without thinking nowaday...... like right now..... and the only way anyone can tell is because I tend to raise my eyebrows at the same time - must be a link somewhere!!!!

Hi, this has been my first month using a kegal8- I think I've begun to see results, but it's still early days. I got one of these machines because I lacked both the discipline and the confidence that I was doing the manual exercises correctly! The downside is they are expensive, so if you *can* do the exercises yourself it's definitely a big money saver. I am very excited that I've started to see results, though - I hope it continues!
