Hi All
I wonder if you can help me with some advice please, I have posted a few times here about my son who is 10 he is a sensitive boy a worrier, he is popular at school but hates homework as he struggles and is coming home from school very stressed even before we have started homework, we sit down to help him but its getting to the point he is crying and shaking, and he has started to get a twitch.
Have spoken to teacher and she has been supportive and said if he stresses too much leave homework but he has to get used to this as he will get so much more when he is in secondary school, I have also spoken to doctor but no much advice given there.
The other big factor about my son being stressed sadly my husband are separating and feel he has picked up on us arguing even though we do not argue alot but there is tension around, I hate the fact this is harming my child but this is what is happening and want to help my son the best way I can as I know what it is like to go through a divorce at that age.
Any advice appreciated thank you Clareyangel x
The son of one of my close friends was showing similar 'symptoms' to your son (he is 8, nearly 9) - she, too, is breaking up with his father (her partner - still married to someone else - long story!). Anyway. She has found that cranio-sacral therapy has done a lot to help him over the last few months. He had stopped eating, but now has his appetite back and is socialising with his friends (having refused to leave the house throughout the summer holidays). I've also heard that EFT can be used on children - if they don't like the idea of 'tapping' on themselves they are encouraged to use a toy.
The range of Indigo Essences would be perfect. They are especially to help children with their emotional health and wellbeing. There are esences for stress, bullying, confidence, worry.
You can add them to his drinks or under the tongue, and actually you could even let him pick out the ones he would like; he will know what he needs.
I agree with Jabba and would also suggest EFT. It's non-invasive, very easy for a child to learn and then you have given them a 'tool' for life to use on any stressful situation. If you are interested then check out www.emofree.com website to find out what it's all about, I have used it on children with great success.

What about reflexology?
Reflexology is also helpful for emotional release as well as stress.
Reflexology will help him to balance physically, mentally and emotionally.
Also if you can, try to massage his feet before he goes to bed. It will help him relax and calm down and he will appreciate the warm touch from mum!
Sorry to hear that. I experienced something similiar at one point with my son so I do understand how upsetting it can be. You mention that you are both together with him when doing the homework. Could it be that he is trying to catch both of your attention at that point and express his emotions (as it appears all is well at school) ? There may be a simple reason why he is behaving like this that not even he is aware of. I would take him to a child psychologist straight away. He or she will most definetly get to the bottom of it. The reason why he is acting like this may be something that you would not even think about and could be totally unrelated to your divorce. All the best to you and your son. Am sure you will sort everything out.
Hi Clareyangel
I would seriously consider trying EFT - it has had such excellent results - see herefor reports and [DLMURL="http://www.aamet.org/practitioner_list.php?bytype=yes&pid=3"]here[/DLMURL] to find a practitioner near you.
Wishing you all the best, Love and Light
I would support others' suggestion to try EFT - children usually do fabulously well with it and pick it up quickly as a self-help tool for life. One point to consider - even if you are familiar with EFT yourself, it may be better if someone else rather than you initially demonstrated the procedure and practised it with your boy, as it can be hard to us to work therapeutically with our own children, as however much we may try to remain impartial, as parents we cannot not have an agenda and our own emotions are likely interfere in the process.
I would very much recommend "tapping teddies", especially the ones made by Linda Wood, her website is www.magicaltappingbear.com, they are quite pricey but fantastic for tapping with kids (and adults!) and are in my opinion much nicer than the American versions available.

Just another thought re. EFT for kids - Carol Dodsley makes some fabulous personalised books, cards and other resources specially for children who are learning to tap. You can hear a snippet of her tapping song on YouTube!

Thank you all for help. my son is doing really well at school and home and between the teacher and us he is getting there but will take everything you said into account Thank you Clareyangel x
my daughter is very sensitive and is able to pick up vibes off me , this is normally not a problem as i try to be as calm as possible but found it very hard when my husband left us two years ago , all i can say is reassure him as much as possible that you both still love him very much but explain the differences are between you and you hubby and tell him whats going on (not in detail) but i found this helped with her ,as she couldn't cope with not knowing what had happened and why 🙁 hope you are O.k there is a light at the end of the tunnel just keep looking x
HI there
Sorry to hear you are getting a divorce and it must be so hard for your son.
I use EFT to help children's anxiety, but also the Relax Kids CDs - there is one on anxiety on their website relaxkids.com
The quiet time might also help him sort out his feelings regarding your divorce
I had a child who couldnt sleep due to worrying and he was alsleep in 10 mins after listening to the CD.
