Last week my Dad was diagnosed with coloretal cancer which is inoperable. Since then I have been trolling around the internet trying to find some clarification regarding orthodox and alternative treatments. I have coaxed him onto B-17 or Laetrile therapy whilst he awaits chemo but have now discoveredinformation refuting it's properties, even describing them as dangerous. I am finding lots of conflicting information which makes me extremely sceptical about both sides of the fence.
Is B-17 Metabolic therapy dangerous, a placebo or genuine?
Does chemo/radio therapy do more harm than good?
Is this exploitation for financial gain on both sides?
Is this population management?
Will I find anything conclusive before Dad dies?
Will I have failed him by wasting time barking up the wrong trees?
In remission myself, I can only partly understandhow Dad feels, any genuine advice is welcome
RE: Confused about treatments
Hi Gazza, I think you need to read the book "Good news about Cancer in the 21st Century", by Credence Publications, which is an eye opener.
They recommend B17 in the form of apricot kernels, lots of vitamin c and other health promoting tips. They also expose what the medical profession don't tell you.
I've also just found this site, by the same people about cancer reports that they will send you free of charge, information that they can't publish on the website, worth requesting your copy.

I wish you and your father well.

RE: Confused about treatments
Thanks for the advice Rosi. I really apprciate it. Accordining to Dads consultant who dismisses holistic therapies, if therewas anything effective in the way of natural resource, the industry would know about it. I asked him how the indusrty would patent a natural resource his reply was 'They could patenet anything including your DNA' This staement has given me more faith in a possible holistic therapy for Dad.
Thanks again

RE: Confused about treatments
Hi Gary
I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad and am sure this must be a very trying time for you. However good for you for looking at alternative ways to help him. You will certainly not fail your Dad by looking at alternatives and in fact, you are doing him a huge service in trying to find him either a cure or a wayfor you both tocope with what is happening. I don't have any hard and fast answers, but I'll share with you what I do know.
I am not familiar with the the particular therapy you mention, but it seems you have some good feedback from Rosi on this.
There are a lot of people who have become complementary therapists and who work alongside the medical profession, but not all medics have an open mind. They have been trained in a certain way and that's what they believe in. However, more and more Doctors and learning how complementary therapy can work alongside 'traditional' medicine and others even practice it!
The unfortunate thing is that most people do not recognise that our thoughts on medication etc is largely governed by large drugs companies who want to make money by selling drugs. I'm not dismissing medicines, as they can be very valid and have proven very successful in numerous cases. However, the drugs companies are behind a lot of bad press given to complementary therapies.
The fact you have been told that the therapy you are recommending for your father is dangerous is probably true in the wrong hands, because a lot of these things are very powerful and their use goes back hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. However, if you consult well-trained professionals, there should be no harm in exploring this for your father and he may find it extremely helpful.
On the point of chemo/radio therapy, I don't know the answer to this or what I would do if I was diagnosed with cancer. All I do know from clients I have treated, is that it is a very 'violent' form of treatment which affects every system in the body. I understand why it is used, as it is the only thing that 'traditional' medicine can prove to have been effective at the moment and it is effective because it kills off just about everything in the body - good and bad - and sometimes it also gets the cancer. The downsides are that people can suffer side effects and, if they are weak, patients may not survive the treatment.
The important things is to boost the immune system as much as possible with supplements, good healthy fresh foods and some treatmentssuch as Reiki, and I can give you specific information if you would like it.
I don't believe there are any guarantees about treatments for anyone, but one very important thing to know is that state of mind has a lot to do with whyanyonedevelops cancer in the first place and how well they survive it. Louise Hay has written some very interesting stuff on the body and how our mind and habits contribute towards our physical wellbeing. She has a book called Heal your Body and I'm sure you'll find her on the internet. Your Dad may well need to look at what mindset contributed to his illness and see what he feels about changing that.
In addition, research has proved that a positive state of mind with cancer patientsdoes help prolong life and can aid recovery or extend periods of remission.Again the Louise Hay books help withsuggestions on this. I know some of this may be hard to take in, but bear with me. I used to be amongst those who were sceptical and now I know what effect the mind has on our wellbeing, believe me, it's an essential part to resolving any situation.
There are various complementary therapists who claim to help with healing of cancer patients and some have experienced dramatic healings themselves, which brought them to heal in the first p
RE: Confused about treatments
You might also wish to do a search on the Bristol Cancer Centre, they combine conventional and complimentary treatments, and have literature and tapes you can purchase, and i'm sure you could call them for some advice.

RE: Confused about treatments
Dear Gazza - I suspect I've just replied to an email from you. If so, then I missed the point about it being inoperable, so apologise.
Rosi's link looks interesting.
Either way it's a tough call and there's no reason that he couldn't combine orthodox medicine with some complemtary medicine.
There is lots of conflicting information and advice out there, so it's a matter of picking out what you feel makes most sense. Also, I feel it's very important to respect your fathers views on what he wants to do or is open to. Even if you find what you think could be the proverbial miracle cure, then you have to accept that he might not see it the same way or be up for it.
Something you could maybe get him on straight away is a bioflavenoid called pycnogenol. There's some cheap on eBay at the mo and it shouldn't interact with anything.
My mum has just had chemo & radiotherapy for breast cancer ( the only thing she'll let me do is acupuncture when in pain & take some vitamins). My point is, the diet sheet they gave her was appauling and I'm getting around to putting in a complaint.
As an example - under suggested drinks, it doesn't even mention water, but lists a load of sugary soda drinks, when many people on chemo have yeast & fungal problems that they have to prescribe antifungal drugs for.
Andrew.
RE: Confused about treatments
Hi Gary
Sorry - forgot one very useful link. It's called [link= http://www.maggiescentres.org ]www.maggiescentres.org[/link] and is a support for cancer sufferers and their carers. A colleague of mine is involved in it and just reminded me of it, so sorry I forgot to mention it earlier. There's lots of helpful information there and also the opportunity to be involved in support groups etc if needed.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
Annie
RE: Confused about treatments
Hi there,
I am new to this site/forum. Since I have personally been researching Cellular Zeolite myself for several weeks and have many hours invested in this remarkable * natural product* I wanted to reply with my own bit of info for you.
I have numerous articles as well as the U.S. patent for Waiora's Natural Cellular Defense ( NCD ) that I can get to you if you want to read more? I have jjust put my dog on it as he has terminal lung cancer that is progressing faster than even the Vet's had expected. Honestly within 2 hours his oxygen level had increased in his system and this we could tell by his gums and cheeks ( inner) He is eating more already and it was just yesturday that I started him on it. NCD ( cellular zeolite ) has incredible potential for healing, it can not be stated that it can cure but it has power to do the unbelievable. Please let me know if you would liek any of the info ( links) that I have. It is worth looking into and even if it can assist in a better quality of life for your dad it would be worth him taking it - nothing to lose!
I myself am becoming a distributor but havent completed it yet. I believe in it 100%. I will be using it myself as will my husband/children and nephew ( with Crones) and a good family friend with post polio syndrome.
It is worth a try!!
good luck and God bless!!

RE: Confused about treatments
Hi,
A big thanks to everyone who responded to my post, :Dmy Dads doing ok. He has just started chemo last week, and seems to be feeling the best he has for some time. I personally put this down to several elements. First of all and most importantly, I started him on B-17 metabolic therapy which he has stuck to for nearly 4 weeks. His tumour markers at diagnosis 27th January were 35. Yet markers prior to his first chemo treatment 22nd February were 23. His consultant said this was rather unusual. As a result ofthis news and getting started on chemo at last, the phycological effect has been quite noticable. Hopefully things will continue to improve. Once again thanks to everyone ;)I'll keep you posted.

RE: Confused about treatments
Hi,
Does anyone know anything about
Interferon and how long my dad has left as his secondary cancer is incurable, he takes methodone for pain and steroids to help him eat. I need an honest answer please if anyone can help no matter how upset i might be, I need a realistic response.
RE: Confused about treatments
Thumbelina, regretfully, I have no knowledge of what you speak, but please read the post 'totally cured' and all others relating to this illness in the cancer forum. At this stage, hit it with evrything you've got. Even if traditional medicine has given up and says no hope, don't allow it to influence your thinking.
I wish your father the best.
