I am definitely with Joan and Crowan on this one (afterlife.) I am a medium so would be hypocritical if I didn't believe it! However, when my mum was dying, she had a 'visitation' from someone. I actually saw a figure come from her bedroom, go into the hallway and turn to look at me. It had a big smile on its face and it vanished. It resembled the 'sandman' on the port advert (years ago) and its face was very white, as if it had ashes rubbed in. A few days later, mum passed away.
I feel sure that this was some kind of angel/spirit being that was sent to accompany mum on her journey to the next life. I have since discovered that she is very happy and likes it where she is.
Joan, have no fear - your husband is doing fine.

I asked because the last time my husband was taken into hospital I received an emergency phone call the next morning to go to the hospital as he was fading away..
He was dead when I arrived. The doctor explained to me because he had been in so much pain during the night,they had given him a little more pain killer.....
I often wondered about that....

Years ago, my mum told me about her brother who had died of cancer (in 1941.) Like your dear husband, he was in a lot of pain. The kindly old doctor in those days, asked my nan if he could 'make him comfortable.' Nan agreed, knowing what 'comfortable' meant. A little while later, my uncle passed into spirit. This isn't the only incident like this I have heard: a friend's sister was 'made comfortable' too, in 1963.

(Please understand, this is not a challenge. I am interested in how different people work.) What is it that you do? You say you are a medium. Does that mean that some spirit - your "guide"? - came and told you that your mother and Joan's husband were doing fine?

Not really - or, at least, it answers the question about your mum - though I wonder why, if she got to where she should be, she came back to tell you. But with regard to Joan's husband - "why wouldn't he be" is not at all the same as "he's doing fine".
I've many dreams about him. Heard his voice clearly.
I'm not a medium as such,I don't see them except in dreams which to me are not really provable. I know he comes to me in dreams but because of the content of the dreams but there always that doubt...
Except for the few that have taken place in the 'visiting room'.
What I would like to hear is his voice again.....that would give me the ultimate truth....
His voice might give you the proof you want that existence continues after death, but it wouldn't tell you that he was where he needs to be. He might well not know where he is or that there is anything more than his immediate surroundings.
(I think Mrs S and I are likely to disagree over our basic cosmology of what happens after death.)
I know he often appears in my dreams....but also tells me nothing about his life there.
Based on my experience, I would say that if he is coming to you, in dreams or any other way (as opposed to you just dreaming about him) then he may well be hanging around you because he does not know where else to be.
If he were in the land of the dead, then he would be far more likely to be concentrating on healing and reviewing his life and preparing for his next life.
The dead (those in the land of the dead, at any rate) are aware that we have our own lessons to learn and that there is not really anything to be gained from interacting with the living.
I have friend who is Welsh and a darned good medium. We both lost our husbands in the same year. She gives me many messages from him always telling me he is around. I do feel him sometimes. His hand on mine,the closeness of someone else...
Then I don't want this to sound too hard, but why would you want someone you love to be around you, rather than continuing with his soul's path?

This is a hard one to reply to on a forum like this, as I know it will upset/offend people, and this is the point I mean when I say that shamanism and spiritualism contradict each other. However, -
The dead need to be in the land of the dead. The communication with mediums is with souls who have not got to the land of the dead and who are still wrapped up in this present life. They are prevented, by this being stuck, from moving on along their soul path, and also from doing any healing, reviewing and planning needed. This means that they enter their next life with all the baggage from this one and they have made no plans for the new life.
Some - particularly those who have had a traumatic death - can be so disturbed that I fail to see the good that can come from communication with them.
Some lost souls believe wherever they are to be all there is, never having found more, and will attempt to be say the things that are expected of them - "tell Susie I'm fine" etc.
