hi cascara i needed first op because disc was squassing my nerves tried everything else. as for me having prolapse so soon consultant is as shock as i am i did everything i was told to do my doc said a lot of people can prolapse their discs but he said this is something else im probably 1 in so many cases i think i'll end up with fusion as my disc wrll what i have left of it is so unstable he said even a sneeze would prolapse it again im just very unlucky.
Dear Yogi, hope you get some relief soon. It does seem the nhs just cut out the prolapsed bit so there is less left, Mr Knight and his MISS technique actually uses lasers to heat the disc and make it stronger and less liable to relapse, maybe you could mention that idea?
Hi yogi,
Hope all goes well today, I will be thinking of you.
Fingers, Toes and anything else i can find all crossed for you Yogi! The wife is also aware of your predicament and wishes you well too!
Go get em girl!
hi everyone
back home now after second discectomy apart from feeling very sore and tired im more positive this time not only did i prolapsed again which was huge i was at risk of cauda equina but also my previous wound was getting more swollen they told after second op that it was tissue erm don't think it was that, they said it should not happen again ha ha that's what they said weeks ago but if it does ill be past on to another surgeon for fusion fingers cross ill be ok this time.
thanks to everyone who wished me well,
emlou hope your pain has not got any worse. and brillo hope your doing ok keep me imformed. thanks clare .
Thats good! And a positive mental attitude i feel can be great for healing! Im sure in time you will benefit from the procedures youve had to endure! Youve been through the mill but long term im sure it will have been worth it and you will soon be fighting fit!
Im doing ok myself. Down to two IDD sessions per week now from the three but still awake in the mornings pretty stiff and sore in the left leg but i only take my morning meds now and do some exercises and within an hour or so im pretty good. Still able to work and have started doing nights as money can be earnt quicker in a shorter space of time so less time in the cab. Its working for me so far so long may it continue.
Take care and keep us updated as to your progress!

thanks rob
im feeling very emotional at the moment crying all the time 2 ops in 2 weeks has took its toll on me not ashamed to say im feeling very depressed.
glad your doing well hope it continues. thanks clare
Thats understandable, Im 6'4" and 16 stone of muscle (well thats what i'd like to think, lol) and when i was at my worst and my wife was working one evening i was at home alone with my two sons. I couldnt do a thing for them and i broke down in tears in front of them both! They text their mum asking what to do to make me better, bless them! Its awful having everything that we take for granted taken away from us without any reason and especially it becomes worse when youve done nothing to deserve it!
I feel your pain and ill certainly have you in my thoughts when i think ive got it bad! Perhaps that will make me realise how lucky i have been so far!
Try to remain strong and given time which is the best healer there is i promise you will come out of this dark period of your life a stronger, better person!
Take care and love and best wishes to you and your family!

Hi yogi,
I'm pleased to hear that you are back home and are feeling more positive that this surgery will be a success.
I feel like I've turned the corner the last few days. Last week I was feeling down, either feeling tearful or snapping everyone's heads off. Think my children were wishing I hadn't had surgery!! This last few days I have felt more uncomfortable rather than in pain. I had my first physio yesterday and was surprised that movements which were agony pre op are now just uncomfortable, having said that I feel I've got a long way to go to build up leg strength and core muscles.
Yogi just take one day at a time, 2 anaesthetics in 2 weeks will have an effect upon your mood never mind the pain you've been in. Take care and I hope this time it's a smooth road to recovery .
hi emlou feeling a bit better today i to have a long way to go for building my strenght back.a also just realizing now my hubby's holidays have all gone now and we booked holiday august feeling very sad about that but i suppose we could not have predicted this.
hi all
just a quick update feeling a lot better still a bit of leg pain praying this is just the healing process, now im not in the pain i was last week realizing the horrible side effects of gabapentin am weaning myself off them, while i was in hospital i was on oxycodone 15 mls every three hours and oxycontin 40mls every 12 hours they wanted me to carry on with this when i was discharged but i said no did have weird feelings but getting there feeling pretty normal just want to get my life back on track still taking tramadol because of back pain my slight leg pain and wound pain, hoping to put this awful experiance behind me kind of know i will need a fusion just hope it's not to soon my consultant said i will be handed over to a different team if or when i prolapse again gonna stay positive.
thanks clare.
Hi yogi,
So pleased to hear that so far you seem to be recovering this time around, take things slowly and hopefully you will soon be able to reduce yor meds. I've found reducing tramodol hard, had some unpleasant withdrawal symptoms!
Think I spoke too soon about turning the corner!! Woke up yesterday and felt like I'd been kicked in the back, pain was as bad as immediate post op if not worse! Felt ill in myself too, by lunchtime my wound was oozing significantly, put dressing on and it and clothing drenched in minutes. So a trip to urgent care ( I so didn't need a car ride) I've now got a weeks worth of antibiotics as bottom of wound infected!! Feel like I stop taking one lot of tablets to start another!
Brillo I hope you are still feeling better and are continuing to be able to work.
hi emlou
so sorry to hear your still suffering i hope your infection clears up, i too spoke too soon i was up all last night with my back worse than pre-ops and now both my legs i can walk im just thinking that maybe its because ive had second op and it's gonna take longer but if this continues i won't hesitate i will phone hospital i can't help thinking they have made me worse.
emlou i really think you should have another scan done there's no point messing around you should be feeling better now not worse please keep me informed xx
Hi yogi,
Hope you are beginning to feel better and that leg pain reducing.
My leg pain is now significantly reduced although left leg still a lot weaker than right! Wound still swollen oozing and painful but is improved from Saturday.wouldnt mind but as a nurse ive been really careful to keep it clean and was told on wednesday how well it was healing!! I am really hoping I pick up this week as my husband is home next week for a couple of weeks ( he works abroad). Not sure if its been a blessing or not him being away, it's been hard him not here to help and having to ask kids/ friends to do things, but its been good having bed to self and not having to worry about being knocked in night!
Hope you manage ok with husband back at work and that you've got help with the children in the day.
Take care x
