Not been on for a while but have been looking in from time to time and its fab to see how many people seem to be doing so well after their discectomies.
As for myself there has been no improvement and the surgeon has said there is nothing he can do as the the fusion was surgically successful but I have been left with severe nerve damage which leaves me house/bed bound. However I found a website where they talked about SCS and I have persuaded the pain clinic to refer me to Frenchay in Bristol as my hospital in Swindon don't offer this procedure.
So my question is have any of you on here had this and what did you think. It seems like a 50/50 chance of success but is a chance I am willing to take. I know it is not a miracle cure but would just like to be able to sit downstairs and join in with my family. It was suggested initially by the pain clinic that I need to stop looking for a cure and accept my disabilities. At 43 that is easier said than done and while there are still things to try I refuse to give up and don't see why I should!
Anyway any info would be greatly appreciated

I don't have any info I'm afraid, but just wanted to say Welcome back! and good on you for continuing your insistence to find a way to make things better. Shame the medical community like to give up on people too easily.

Hi Wend
I do admire your spirit! 🙂 Yes I think 43 is too young to accept such severe disability when there might be something possible to help sort it out.
I'm no expert on backs and have no knowledge of the process you mention I'm afraid, but maybe someone else has.
You also might consider something like EFT to help reduce the pain. There are some reports here that you might find helpful to read. The site has lots of info and videos - plus there are plenty more on youtube.
Hope you find some help for your problems and big cyber hugs

Thanks for your replies and it's a shame no one seems to have tried this treatment on here. I will keep everyone updated on my progress and the results of the trial and then hopefully successful implantation.
For anyone with nerve damage after back surgery please don't accept that there is nothing to try other than the usual cocktail of Gabapentin, Amytriptyline etc. I found out about SCS by searching the web for other treatments and approached the pain clinic and asked to be referred. I am unsure why not all hospitals tell patients about this treatment but fear it is because of cost as it costs approx £15000 - £20000.
