RE: So Sick of Back Pain!!

Dear Coral - am interested to hear what you've been told as to what you should or shouldn't do with low back pain. There are varying opinions that don't always agree.

You mention depression. If you have depression, then it could be significant if this came before or after the back pain. It's very common that depression follows any long term painful condition. It is perfectly reasonablethat sooner or later if you have a painful condition that no one has actually done anything to help then it would get most people down.

Ifyou've had children, then the added weight bearing at the front tends to pull the lumbar spine forwards into extension. This can then irritate/lock the small facet joints at the back of the spine causing pain and unless released can continue after the pregancy.

An osteopath would most likely be able to release these joints and advise on stretches to maintain mobilty. Regaining the movement in the joints will not only reduce any muscle spasms, but will help the inflammation drain from the area.

Have a check thru the other Threads on this Forum for other ideas and there's a Thread at the top covering general back pain.

Andrew.

RE: So Sick of Back Pain!!

I have found magnotherapy to be fantastic as I used to suffer back pain really badly I used to take strong pain killers nearly ever day just so I could function.

If you want to know more about it please PM me and I will send you more info on how it could help

RE: So Sick of Back Pain!!

well, its been over a year now since i posted this thread and am i any better? well i can do more but i still have my set backs.

i had an MRI scan done on advice of my GP. It showed i have minor wear and tear between L5 and S1. my right hip has recently started giving way which can be a little alarming! but as always i do as my osteopath says and plod on through my hectic life.

I still suffer serious back pain and only3 weeks ago i was stuck in the shower, i had my leg on the side of the bath leaning forward (to shave my legs! awe don't snigger lol) and my back just went. i know now that is not a safe thing for me to do! so i still have to be extra careful but i'mtrying to learn not to let it stop me achieving my dream of being a nurse.

the hardest thing for me is to accept my limitations, i'm stubborn and i'm having to learn to cope with pain when all iwant is to get on and enjoy my family and my nurse studies.

thank you for all your replies 🙂

L5 S1 damage...

Do some thorough research on prolotherapy - I did and wasted 1 year of my life in pain reading about because as soon as I went to see the therapist it was very obvious what the problem was and that it was a very common problem problem and i should have gone the first day I read the article on the internet - yes I am fully fixed, it worked veyr quickly and I am happy to talk with any medically qualified people who want to challenge me or discuss my case ! Good luck - I bet you will fix it if you find the right therapist. There are NOT many - beware !!!!
