Been reading about all of you with serious back problems except what I have said already about following an alkaline diet and using EFT.

I cannot begin to know how awful it must be. I can offer no helpful ideas but wish you all the best and send Love Light and Healing to you all - with BIG huigs.

Hi Sorry to learn of your issues. I was given some exercises by the physio therapy department and one was to lay on the bed or floor with an exercise ball under my legs as close to the knees as possible and to try and push the ball into the bed. Then move the ball slowly towards ankles doing the same thing. It helps a little to build up hip and leg muscles whilst being low impact however trying to get the legs high enough to have the ball under them is a job in its own right.
If you did stay standing either with someone to support you or by holding on to something what would happen? Does the feeling go away or do you actually fall?
God Bless

Hiya BMW.

I am 'so very sorry' to see that you are still experiencing severe difficulties after your 2 spinal decompression operations.

I had the same sciatica weaknesses and falling fears as you have now, between 2004 and 2008, but these symptoms were cleared after an MISS Key Hole ELF Operation at The Spinal Foundation in 2008.

I hope you don't mind me asking BMW?
1)
Were you experiencing the same or similar symptoms before your operations?
2)
Did your first MRI scans, also indicate an L1/2 or a possible L2/3 nerve
impingement?

The reason I ask, is that if you suffered with the similar symptoms eminating from the L4/5 (sciatic level), and these were successfully cleared during your first operation, I am disappointed for you and supprised that your symptoms are still there! And, the L1/2 level is also known to produce similar symptoms like leg weakness, leg collapses and spinal electric shocks.

Speak to you soon

Kind thoughts and best wishes

sorry to hear that your still having symptoms after having op,s , hope your not to disheartened, and apologies my post wont be ov much help

i looked at this thread as i have weakness in legs and feel like i need to sit down all the time so i can really empathise with you ,, its soo debilitating,, ive learned to organise things in a military fashion so i plan every little outing e,g seats available ,, go in shops for 2-3 things,, phone ahead to find out about facilities, make meals using perching stool, have toilet raiser etc etc ,,,but yes all ov this is such a pain in the touche (literally also !)
I did find pilates very good and felt stronger and stabalised for quite some months

what was extremely interesting to me personally was that ive not put my weakness down to my 3 deteriorating lower discs, detected via mri scans..... I have seen specialists,, physios,, for over 10 years & no-ones even hinted that it could be this ...... but have had a diagnosis ov M.E for 6 years..... and its just been assumed to be part ov this.....

I have a physio appoint nxt week so will attend armed with new info !
would be interested to hear more about keyhole surgery spinelf

best wishes all
H

Hello Aitch and welcome!

I am sorry to read about your long standing M.E.condition.

My neighbour has M.E. and that does tend to be considered as the source of many of her 'fally downy' symptoms as she calls them. But of course, it is 'totally possible' that
a sufferer can have more than one condition, but the question for M.E. and other sufferers of things like M.S. etc, is whether their Doctors are open minded enough to consider other root causes of their symptoms, let alone will they be prepared to treat them.

I think we can all sympathise and empathise with your experience of having to make a
deternined effort to alter every aspect of your life, just to fit your illness Aitch.
Many of us hear on HP have had Doctors ignore and down play disc and bone inpingements of nerve strands and roots, Having M.E. to distract your doctor must make it 'doubly difficult' for you to reach the full story.

In essence, spinal key hole surgery, or Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery (MISS) is 'purposefull designed' to avoid the damage, destruction, scarring and complications that are common with standard 'open back' procedures. Basically, it cuts, drills disects and traumatises the spinal patients body 'far less' than standard procedures, with the intention of improving the patients long term clinical outcome and recovery.

I underwent my succesful L4/5 osteoartritic based, right lateral, nerve root impingement, decompression operation, an (ELFD) Endoscopic Laser Foraminoplasy + Decompression in 2008, at The Spinal Foundation in Cheshire,
See: www.spinal-foundation.org It does what is says on the tin!!

There are very few UK based MISS Surgeons and clinics, so here are some US ones to help with the basics, they make for great bedtime reading. LOL!!!

Also, a good research tool is:

See how you get on with these to start with Aitch, you know where I am if you want more!

Best wishes and kind thoughts
