RE: sex

You poor thing, I really feel for you. I'm sure he is right when he says you are gorgeous .

I've just looked a few articles in Medscape about exercise and RA. Intensive exercise and weight-training look as if they have desirable outcomes, and don't increase pain. If you are interested go to www.medscape.com and then register with them, and do a search.

I have a couple of clients with RA who do Pilates and they do OK, and they say it helps.

Sharon.

RE: sex

Oooh, didn't mean it to scare you - I thought the articles on exercise would help.
Still better to be well informed than not. Your nurse may have experience with patients who have benefitted from her drugs, perhaps.
Sweet dreams,
Sharon.

Dear Helen,

You may consider using the Bach Flower Remedy called CRAB APPLE. There are 38 remedies and each one is specific to your state of mind. This oneis used when people feel that there is something not right with their body. (ie: something not clean) and is used when people de-tox because it helps us to let go of the emotions surrounding circumstances that leave us feeling a certain way.... like being diagnosed with a disease.

RE: sex

If you consider that RA is generally accepted as an autoimmune disease, (which amounts to an immune system dysfunction and kind of self allergy) and the only orthodox medical treatments are anti-inflammatories(steroids and non steroidal (NSAID's), which only block the inflammatory process and not deal with the immune problem), then you may want to consider a more rational approach.

Suggested things to look up;

  • The Complete Guide to Food Allergy and Intolerance- book by Brostoff & Gamlin
  • NAET - Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques
  • HP serach with key words 'arthritis', 'RA', 'Rheumatoid Arthritis' & Allergies, with my user name as author, then it shoudl throw up loads of leads.

In short there's an association with grains, wheat in particular and problems with this is associated with fatigue, brain fog, emotional fragility, etc. the extreme being coeliac disease. Have you been screened for this recently?

I say recently because a new test has been introduced recently and although it's no more reliable than the older one, they now do both and a positive result with both is quite reliable.
I'd like to say that cutting out the offending items would resolve the problem, but unfortunately there is an autoimmune component with RA (IMHO) and with coeliac's, so this needs addressing also for complete resolution.

Andrew.

RE: sex

Dear Helen,

It must be hard for you, coming to terms with this, and when you are stressed with a lot on your mind, it often has a negative effect on your sex drive. I'm not sure whether the RA has any effect, other people I'm sure can give you advice on this.

What might be of great help to you and your husband is massage, and in particular massage with aromatherapy oils. If you saw an aromatherapist, they could, after a full consultation, mix you some oil designed to help your RA, and with a mild aphrodisiac effect. The massage needn't lead to anything else, but it would be caring physical contact between you.

Hope other people can give you more help and support than me.

Nellx

RE: sex

I've helped people with RA with EFT. A lot of people think EFT is for phobias and mind stuff like that, but at our clinic, we deal with many physical conditions. The nice side of this is that EFT can help with the sex drive too. You will unfortunately need to shell out to see an experienced EFT practitioner who regularly works with physical conditions and at the very least has had training in a "physical" discipline. They will not only help but will teach you how you can top up the treatment by yourself (or in a fun way with your bloke), thereby saving you money long-term.

The only downside in my experience is that sometimes people are so used to their arthritis, they are not willing to come for treatment and opt for the distressing condition instead - kind of a "better the devil you know" or "this is the cross I have to bear". Those brave few that do cross this threshold find anything from partial to total improvement.

RE: sex

I have the exact same problem as you but not only did my sex drive melt down but also if I still accept to lay down and let my hub do it over me, the pain on my back and on my legs is just to unbearable for me to feel any pleasure. Im scared that if I cant satisfy my man anymore he might want to look for pleasure elsewhere. He is a man after all and has his needs too. BTW what is EFT?
