Iam 61 and had a bi-lateral hip replacement almost 9 years ago. My left hip is now giving me discomfort and 'gives way' occasionally. It is very painful when this happens and I then need a stick. Is this the beginning of the end of this hip? How do you know when to see the surgeon again? I had two uncemented prosthesis coated with H.A coated with Birmingham properties (?) ceramic on ceramic, although both are slightly different.
This is all news to me, I had a hip REPAIR done, as I fell and broke my hip a few years ago, due to having Osteoporosis, but they wouldnt replace it, they said I was too young......at 51yrs, so how could I have been too young when many of you have been much younger????
Then just over a year ago I fell again and broke my right wrist.
It was actually worse than the hip to recover from, it had to be operated on and pins put in, then removed when it set correctly.
Just have to keep upright, and be more careful, please God.
Its amazing how many people believe that they fall and then break something,alot of the time they fall because of brittle bones.My grandmother was 84 and fell and her hip was broken but her hip was broken before she fell and hence the fall,not in all cases of course but especially in older people.
