Hiya,

Load of people use patches to help, but it still requires willpower. If you would prefer to avoid patches altogether, take a look at the various Mind Therapies that are on offer. Hypnotherapy, NLP, FREEWAY-CER, EFT. If money is an issue, then you can download the manual for EFT from [link= http://www.emofree.com ]www.emofree.com[/link] for free, and the website contains lots of information about treating various conditions to assist you in treating yourself. Obviously EFT will work better if you can visit a practitioner as they will be able to guide you and ensure that you are going about it the right way, but as a starting point the free manual can be very beneficial.

RE: replacement for tobacco?

the only way to stop smoking is to understand that any patches, chewing gums and other 'replacements' are still keeping you addicted to nicotine - because that's what addiction to smoking is! Most of my friends that tried stopping using patches actually reported that they only made them want to smoke more, not less.

I tried to quit a number of times and the thing that mede me stop smoking was a book called ' Easyway to stop smoking' by Allen Carr. It was recommended to me by a friend who stopped after 20-odd years of smoking about 40 a day. After reading the book I just stopped...and never smoked since, I've been smokefree for last 3 years and never looked back at the years of stench and misery in my life....

hope you will escape the trap soon, Darling!

xx

Hiya

You say you can't do it alone but you actually can! You just won't because it means putting up with maybe feeling irritable/anxious/bad tempered etc as the price to pay. Doesn't it feel better to know you can do something, rather than can't?

I believe it's more of a psychological addition than a physical one (with the exception of a small percentage of people) - many people find that Vitamin C and Vitamins B6 and B12 work well, as well as sucking on an ice cube or rinsing the mouth with cold water.

I've also known quite a few people that have had success with Allen Carr's book, as mentioned by Abssinthe.

RE: replacement for tobacco?

HI . Im into week 2 of not smoking . Ive been a smoker for 23 years and to be honest I like to smoke . Well I did until I started on a pill called Champix . I went to see the nurse who deals with stopping smoking . I was determind not to walk out of there with out it . ( you do have to carry on smoking for the first 2 weeks although I just did one week but to be honest from day one the pills made the whole smoking prosess awful . I now havent had a smoke for 8 days and appart from the odd feeling which is very short livedIve been fine . Im shocked at how Im feeling and doing to be honest as I really didnt find the patches very good , I had no will power and looked for any reason to have one ( which I did and enjoyed ). Champix is a whole different story . If you google Champix theres lots of info on line . Im also working on my emotional needs with regards to smokeing , from what Ive seem on this site there are many examples of books etc that Im sure will help. I have founnd Ive so much more time on my hands , Ive totally re done the garden and spend most evenings on my allotment , Im also going to bed early . Keeping your mind off smoking is a major part of quitting . All the best huni .Quithen the times right you x

4 Years old. My you are young to start smoking. Don't worry you will not be able to smoke at school.

Seriously I gave up a 20 a day habit after 35 years by just looking at a cigarette one day after someone I was dating told me that I stunk of smoke. Ripped it up and the rest in the packet, never smoked since and married my date. Will power and intent.

If not follow energylz suggestion.

RE: replacement for tobacco?

I agree with Abssinthe in that nicotine patches etc only make the problem worse. Think about the first time you tried a cigarette, you were probably young and impressionable with this white stick in your hand. You drew a puff and nearly choked - that's how I started, its not the cigarette that keeps you hooked its the nicotine, so how does it make sense to keep yourself on that and try and quit?
The best alternative is to find alternatives, whether its mental or physical. Nature has the solution with herbs and I and many of my customers have had god success with herbal patches.
The best advice is to keep trying until you quit.
Don't quit until you quit!

You may find it helpful to change to tobacco "sniffing"
as it frees one from being poisoned by smoke, which
actually is a source of all health troubles.
Then it may turn easier to give up.
There's information, in Russia in 19-th century tobacco sniffing
was no less popular than pipe and those had no noticeable
harm to health, at the same time having had good stimulation
from nicotine like of coffee.
